Giving Grovel Bot a Break - here is my take on DU and things

On May 9th I posted a thread about my wife's diagnosis of parkinson's disease:

And I got a lot of great replies and emails. My wife still cries when she reads the thread.

When my mom passed, DU was there. When I need to rant and get some feedback, you folks are there.

You are there because we each chip in something, as we are able, to keep the lights on.

I know I am not always on the same side of the fence on issues with people. Really glad I am not as it has helped educate me more than you can know.

Skinner and crew have done a fine job of things - and I ain't kissing butt cause he ain't a hot red head like the wife. If he was...well, I ain't going there...

At any rate, we have a place to sit and talk. And it has helped me more times than I can recall just to come here to read what people have to say.

We don't always like each other - from mihop to lihop from religion to atheism and so on, we do battle. But ya know what? It feels damn good to be able to do so. I like it when people challenge me, it makes me think of new ways to defend my beliefs/ideals. Maybe I am wrong - and if I am I learned something new.

So a thanks to Skinner and crew - and to you ALL. You have made DU worth donating for me. If you are able to (and I know we all can't, been there myself in life) please do.

And thank you for putting up with me and my rantings.

It is much appreciated. DU gives me a place to vent, to let out my feelings. Pretty calming at times. Worth donating to just so I can blow off the steam :)

This is a good place to get educated in a hurry, although it does take an open mind and then making an informed decision on your part. I've learned a LOT from here, plus I've been able to voice some of my own frustrations and points of view. Hopefully I'll be able to donate some cash here in a few weeks, but right now I can't swing it either. That being said, here's something I can donate to anyone who wants to use it for any reason. I think it would make a great avatar myself, but I'm prejudiced about it! ;-) Feel free to use it. Save it to your own hard drive or link to it from my site. This is my view of the repugs:

You have a good site which keeps getting better - and you can put up with me (that alone is worth a donation!).

DU has helped me whittle away a lot of time in a way that I learn something and keep my mind from imploding with the personal difficulties I am surrounded with. Your site has impacted my life in a positive way.

You put it very well, DU is a great place to share with friends and it takes a lot of hard work to keep it going.

I hope your wife is doing well, she's in my prayers.

I can come here and drink, smoke, and chat with others about what is going on in the world.

Maybe next to the Lounge we should have 'DU bar' :)
