AKRON, Ohio -- A 14-year-old girl who ran away to avoid testifying against a man accused of molesting her has been jailed for a week and denied access to an attorney, officials and court records said.

The girl failed to show up May 8 at the trial of 20-year-old Galo Sanchez-Pesantes. She was taken into custody a day later when her mother found her and called police.

Prosecutors said the teen is a material witness. They wanted her girl jailed "so that she is not on the streets where we can't find her or she's doing things she shouldn't be doing," said Mary Ann Kovach, who heads the Summit County prosecutor's criminal division.

Common Pleas Judge James Murphy ordered the girl held indefinitely. The girl has requested a lawyer, according to court records. But jail officials said she isn't permitted contact with anyone unless county prosecutors approve.

Sanchez-Pesantes, of Akron, is accused of having unlawful sexual conduct with the teen in January. He is free on bond and had a pretrial hearing scheduled Tuesday.

Children are being overly-sexualized at younger and younger ages. They see sex EVERYWHERE, and at about 13, LOTS of little girls see themselves as "vamps-in-training"... 20 year old men, are barely out of their own teens, and we all know that MOST guys like their "girls" young.. How many times have YOU looked at a young teen-aged girl, and been shocked to find out that she was 13 or 14, and NOT 17 as you may have guessed.. ?

There are girls all over this country who are young teens and pre-teens obsessed with being "sexy"..

There are mothers all over too, who are obsessed with their daughters' "cuteness" and being "popular".. Girls get the message very early on.. It;s not surprising that a 14 yr old who may have lied about her age might "fall in love" with an immature 20 yr old guy..

The thing that sickens me is how little girls are being coerced into growing up so fast..:(

They are easy prey for older guys, because just at the moment that they are becoming independent from Mom & Dad, they are putting themselves out there for exploitation..

She's obsessed with Playboy and becoming a centerfold. I showed her a picture on the internet of a cholostomy bag and asked her if she was sure she wanted to date a guy like that. She's smart, but she's an idiot.

I heard the child in the pornography does not want to testify. The judge may put her in jail.
