The general opinion is that Hillary is a de facto leader of the democratic party. She's a former first lady and a one term senator, who probably would never have even been elected had she not been first lady.

The highest ranking democrat we have in the party is Clinton, who as a two term president has achieved the highest status, but he rarely speaks out or leads anymore because of his close ties to Poppy Bush, and the "unwritten" code of silence that most presidents adopt when they leave office.

The party out of power seems to have difficulty getting any message across due to the lack of a viable leader. Anyone who is percieved as a leader is automatically presumed to be running himself/herself, so anything they say is taken as a campaign strategy.

Our party chairman, Dean, is being fought tooth and nail by the DLC faction, so there's not a strong leadership in either group.

Pelosi sees herself as a leader, but she rarely has many in her camp to back her up, and she does say some pretty off the wall things.

Reid straddles the fence every chance he gets..

Lieberman ....well.. we don't even need to go there..

Feingold is brave, but no one backs him up ... Others elbow each other out of the way in the mad dash to the microphones to contradict or "explain" what he meant.

It seems as if anyone who can get airtime tries to position thenmselves as a leader, and is immediately smacked down or ignored by all the other presumptive "leaders"..

In this day and age of "insta-media", we must have a more cohesive message and messengers who , if they are not all on the same page, should at least be reading the same book .:eyes:

The one thing we must grudgingly admit is that republicans do stick together Even when they know they are all lying, and the boat is sinking, they are all bailing as fast as they can and complimenting the captain on his fine seamanship.:)
