AT&T just called
Edited on Wed May-17-06 07:55 PM by linazelle
AT&T: Hello...Ms. XXXX?

Me: Yes

AT&T: I want to offer you a special promotion. I'm pulling your information up. I need to let you know this call may be monitored.

Me: LOL

AT&T: Why are you laughing?

Me: Because it's funny that you would tell me that my call is being monitored when you've sold my information to the NSA who is also monitoring me.

AT&T: We are offering a promotion on your internet service. Your contract expires soon. I see that you are paying $14.99 a month and we want to offer you a $19.99 per month rate.

Me: LOL. So let me get this straight. You want me to pay MORE for you to sell my personal records to the NSA?

AT&T: I don't really have any information on that.

Me: Well I suggest that you tell the people who do have that information that customers like me aren't interested in having their privacy rights invaded for a fee.

Click.

7. That isn't a kool aid smilie.
It is a smilie of a person who was drinking water (soda, coffee, whatever) when they read your post and then spit it out on the monitor because the post was fucking hilarious. :hi:

9. It's an old comic gag
called a spit take. Someone is drinking and is made to laugh, so they of course made it an emoticon :eyes:

I'm sure the post was meant to be on your side.

The International Emoticon Standards and Practices Rule Book specifically states that no emoticon shall be used in a manner that would result in sarcastic remarks referencing another fellow emoticon. For your sake I hope this goes unnoticed by the IESP.

That's funny!
Jon Stewart had show on last night and it showed phone bill with NSA surveillance charge $2.45. And stated, we are paying the fuckers to spy on us!

5. Tell them you are turning over the record and recording of the
call to the NSA. That should stop them.

12. "AT&T: I don't really have any information on that."

This, my friends, is a "tell."

Every company in the business of offering phone service issued guidelines for employees on denying involvement within 24 hours of the USA Today article's publication.

"I really don't have any information on that" indicates either the people responsible for issuing those instructions are completely incompetent, this person has been out sick and is ignorant, or the employees have been instructed to express ignorance because an outright denial could be used against them.

Interesting...thanks for sharing.

13. I've got a better one
I had Verizon, i started making inquirers on a more should we say ethical services.

I had contacted Aldelphia(I hate them too) but just asked questions, also contacted Earthlink. Now all this happened Sunday, internet was working fine. All of a sudden Monday the DSL and internet are dead.

I called Verizon to see what happened, I have to give it to the tech's credit, they went through everything imaginable to correct the problem. This went on for 2 days.

I called this morning and was told they canceled me because I went with another company (which I never did) plus the bill is paid up to date.

Remember the commercial from the ACLU when the guy calls for a pizza, the rep has his whole life history, we are living in these times, similar things have happened to me before.

Well I told Verizon the techs were great but they can go Fuck themselves.

I am now a customer with Earthlink,at least their in India and not tied to the government, plus they are so nice. I highly recommend them.

15. I dropped Earthlink because the overseas "help" was
totally inadequate IMHO.

That's mind boggling that Verizon dropped your service. How did they find out you were looking for other services? Even if you found other services, if you were paid, they had no right to drop you. That's weird.

Edited on Wed May-17-06 08:55 PM by sasha031
Big Brother was focused on me I guess. It happened, when i called this morning they told me they got a call from upstairs that I had switched to another carrier which wasn't true.

well you can love Verizon all you want...

in PC Magazine Earthlink is the cream of the crop, and I think I'm only paying $!4.00 or so for a number of mnths, then it will jump to the 30's like verizon.

Maybe Choicepoint had their hands in a few more jars during their data mining.

I'm biding my time until the contract expires.
