Which of these recent DU topics embarasses you most as a DU'er?

Edit: note that "dissapoints" would probably be a better word to use than "embarasses" in the poll question.. so think of it that way.

For example, whatever words came after the first quote-thingie in "tar baby" cut off the rest of the sentence.. so obviously that choice didn't make much sense.

Well, apparently when a prosecutor tells a just-indicted White House official that "he has 24 hours to get his affairs in order," that doesn't mean BY THE SAME TIME THE NEXT DAY, that means 24 "business hours." So weekends and evenings don't count. Ask anyone, apparently it's a pretty common expression.

But in this case -- if it is indeed a "fuckup" -- the perpetrator of this alleged "fuckup" would only be trying to cover their own ass, rather than that of a disgraced, disgusting president. And I can accept the former if they're battling against further occurence of the latter.

Nothing is has changed for at least a decade or more.

But now suddenly it's a crisis?

Please. Somebody wants us to forget about Iraq, forget that Bin Ladin has never been captured, ignore the fact that the country is about to go bankrupt, global warming will kill the planet, probably within our lifetime, etc. etc. etc.

Sorry, but it's true. The topics are fine, they are susceptible to rational discussion. But thanks to dumbass posts, including many that don't really focus on the topic at all, that create huge piles of shit that nobody can clean up.

But that's just my opinion.

Anyway, I was going to vote for the "tar baby" thing, but ultimately had to go for the Flight 77 thing. Holding tightly onto an alternative theory despite the fact that all the people on that plane vanished has to be one of the least logical and most insensitive things anyone could possibly do.

If you're worried about what the religious intolerant are doing for the image of religion in general, I suggest you take it up with them- and not with the millions of good atheists and other unbelievers in this country.

Some of US get pretty sick of being told that we're "psychologically damaged", or incapable of being moral, or that we'll "grow out of it". Of course, we get this all the time, and not just on DU-- made all the worse when so-called progressives tell us to shut up and get to the back of the bus or call for 'purging' us from the left in a misguided attempt to woo 'values voters'. All part and parcel of being a minority which is only barely tolerated, usually on the condition that we don't actively voice our opinions on theological matters. (If believers take "I don't belive in your God" as "You're stupid", that's their problem)

Sorry if I'm not overflowing with sympathy for the poor, oppressed religious majority.

It's for the reason that when you bring up anything relating to 9/11, it brings out so many intolerant people from the woodwork that ridicule, flame and finger-wag others that aren't even attacking them in the first place. Flaming and ad-hominems in any sense is freeper bullshit. These people aren't advocating child molestation, they're presenting alternate theories to events of that day that were dubious and didn't pass the smell test to begin with. Just because they sound strange to you, does that mean you have to attack them?

Pick your battles and save your piss and vinegar for something else.

every once in awhile I do get disappointed with intolerance of other views and attacks, but that's about it.
