Cooper Tire removes shredded tires from accident scenes to avoid lawsuits.
This was a report on WXYZ news last night. This is corporate greed trumping safety yet again.

"They would never hire someone to do that - to go running around the country to pick up tread off the highway, if they didn't know there was a real problem here," she said.

Claybrook reviewed the number of deaths and injuries uncovered in court cases, as well as the video depositions we obtained.

"They've done this on a systematic basis, in order to stop lawsuits and win lawsuits," she explained.

Investigators believe this has gone on for at least five years all over the country.

Ruggier admitted to visiting about 75 a to 100 crash sites each year for Cooper Tire.

He also admitted to picking up a tire after Elisa Loza’s car accident. He said he delivered it to Cooper, but the tire company denies ever getting it. Now depositions show it has vanished.

1. This is beyond disgusting. Why don't they invest the money they
spend hiding the evidence into perfecting their tires so no one dies?:argh:

4. If this gets in front of a judge
people at Cooper Tire should end up in jail.

Of course, because they're a corporation they'll probably get a financial slap on the wrist and walk away. People die for corporate profits and they get away without any liability.
