Jon Stewart does it again: (Discussion about abortion.)
Jon Stewart interviews RW apologist Ramesh Ponnuru about his book: The Party of Death.

This is The Daily Show at its best:

1. Hard to believe he can ambush people with good journalism.
I mean, it's not expected not simply from a comedian, but from ANYONE, so it seems to never fail to shock right-wingers (and apologists thereof).

2. I also noticed that Ponnuru was uncomfortable ...
and Jon worked with him, non-confrontational, but firm and with the points.

Maybe pundits should learn how to be a stand up comic before studying politics.

4. Exactly. I think it's b/c the RWers are used to speaking in sound-bites,

They are so used to speaking in sound-bites that when they meet an actual thinker, they fall apart like a wet paper bag.

5. the pipsqueak
didn't do much for his book.

I like Stewert's approach. I wanted to throttle the moran.

(wouldn't it be nice if the real reporters asked in depth and follow up questions?)

6. I enjoy Jon's interviews allot,
but sometimes he let's guest off the hook and goes for the laugh. But not this time, he had this yahoo on the ropes, and he never let up.

As we all know Jon Stewart is a comedian, but so called real journalist could take lessons from him about how to conduct an interview.

7. Ponnuru is a minor-league twit, but he did show . . .
Edited on Fri May-19-06 08:48 AM by MrModerate
Chutzpah, knowing that Stewart would make a fool of him. I guess it'll help him sell his book, and Scaife won't have to buy 'em by the truckload and sell 'em for 14 cents a copy on Newsmax (2 for 1 deal on Coulter's latest screed for a quarter!).

8. The interview was Stewart at his best, BUT
I wish he would have cited the law that Bush had implemented in Texas when he was governor that said that the tubes would be pulled on patients who couldn't pay.

The antiabortion people are such hypocrites and Ponnuru came across as the ideologue that he and the rest of them are.

This was great TV and I am glad that Stewart called the a**hole out.
