Don't send Kan Lay & Jeffrey Skilling to jail.
Edited on Fri May-19-06 09:13 AM by Dulcinea
Why should they get to enjoy a country club prison?

Instead, make them pay back all the money they stole from Enron's employees, personally apologize to all their victims, & sentence them to toil for minimum wage for the rest of their natural lives. That would be a much worse punishment for 2 greedy people who fear poverty more than anything. JMHO.

2. Community service.
Make them work in a soup kitchen. Then a few months building homes for Katrina victims. Then they can scrape dog-shit off the bottom of my shoes.

4. How about sending their sorry asses to Iraq and let a couple
of good decent military people come home? Just a thought, since they have screwed this country seven ways to Sunday maybe they could give back. Kenny Boy and Shilling helped get Chucklenuts into the White House so why don't we give them the opportunity to show how much they care? Super Max prison is too good for these asswipes.

11. just as his ahole daddy did, shortly after the 08 elections, you're going
to see some really anger inducing pardons.

he'd like to hold off on Rove/Scooter/Abramof, etal, til after the election, but it's going to depend on how much pressure any of them put on the WH to start really squealing.

if he can keep the lid on til then, you won't believe the breadth/depth of pardons he's going to come up with, ALL to keep the myriad crooks awaiting/serving time to keep from spilling the beans

that'd make a good speculative thread: who's he going to pardon, and when?

13. As to when, his father pardoned the Iran/Contra gang
on Christmas Eve (if memory serves). If Bush loses the house or the senate, I'm willing to bet the pardons will be given during the holidays.

14. That's what I thought. He can pardon anytime, can't he?
Holidays are just good PR- most people not paying close attention to news and the few who do are usually in generous mood anyway.

Didn't Ford pardon Nixon right away?

17. You're right, but that one couldn't be minimized.
It was so big the timing didn't matter. I do think that with 24 hour "news" channels it will be harder to minimize the effect by scheduling the pardons when they will be least noticed, but they'll try.

8. Make them give up their assets
like the people who lost their 401(k) and pension funds. I like it--condemn them to the fate that their ex-employees had to suffer.

15. We need to make all prison's equal
Or at least when people are sentenced, they're sent to the nearest prison that has room. They can't petition to be sent to these country clubs. If Skilling's trial is somewhere near that asshole, Joe Arapio, then he gets to live in "tent city." If Ken had been sentenced in California, send him to San Quentin. Likewise, you get some blue collar criminal that can punch people through brick walls, send him to the country club prison if that's the closest and let him terrorize the guys already doing time there.

Republicans believe that the death penalty is a deterrent to crime (although it's not) so they should be in favor of sending white collar criminals to hard time in hard places as I'm willing to bet that the possibility of becoming the bitch of some big muscle-bound Klan or gang member would deter these assholes from ripping people off.

16. Every Dime
Bring them to Chapter 7. Make them sell a home that is worth more than the national median, a car at the median automobile value, and then let them see how the other half lives when they can't get a job, given their felony convictions. But, EVERY dime they ever made, even those that might have been wholly legit, should be taken.

THAT is deterrance.
