There are several statues of Henry in the DC/VA area where I live. I would like to see them shrouded until we have our civil liberties again.

How would I go about this? Write the Virginia Legislature and suggest they do that? Is it illegal to put a shroud over a public statue without permission? (it's not like it would damage it or anything, but I'm guessing it would probably be illegal.)

that famous quote is a call for armed revolution, which is no longer protected free speech in usa if it ever was

maybe people such as the many good attorneys here will see your post and give better advice

my little post is just to keep you kicked for awhile

my gut feeling is that secret service would be out in swarms if you openly stated a plan to shroud patrick henry's image until our liberties were regained unless you were painfully clear that you meant only non violent forms of protest

Would that be like the non-violent protests during the RNC Convention, where protestors were rounded up and arrested.

Non-violence is one way to go, but at a certain point it will just allow the authorities to round up,
arrest, and put into detainment centers all of those people.

There comes a time when non-violence no longer works, and standing up and actually resisting has to happen. Men like Patrick Henry realized that, they tried the non-violent route and were treated like dirt by there King, they tried diplomacy it didn't work, they tried to get redress for their greivences, and were laughed at. When people stood against the British in Boston, they were gunned down.

As long as BushCo has nothing to fear from politicians, and as long as he knows that all that the people will do is march peacefully against him, we have about as much a chance as an icicle in hell!!!

Fear is what they use against us, it can be used against them as well.

I'll let you know when the Secret Service comes calling!!!!

And at any rate, I'm not calling for a violent revolution. I just think it dishonors men like Patrick Henry to continue to display their statues the way things are (because even if I'm not calling for it, he would have).

Maybe I could say I'm a disciple of Christo and just making the "Gates of DC" or something...

4. I don't fly the flag anymore
for the same reason. Until the Constitution and Bill of Rights is restored (if they ever will), that's my chosen action. To me, flying it while our constitution and checks and balances are no longer in play, I feel, actually dishonors what it is supposed to stand for.

It's the natural by-product of a civilized society.

On the other hand, war, oppression, violence, and fear cost. They cost a lot.
