How about if we make Kansas a "no fly" zone?
In Kansas, the bible trumps Darwin.

So my question is, if Jesus never mentioned airplanes, why are they allowed to land, takeoff or fly over Kansas?

Sorry, you DUers who live in Kansas, but we've got to be consistent here. I'm sure that much of the population of the country would agree with my "no fly" status for Kansas.

1. I always thought Kansas was "flyover country" anyway.
Just kiddin'; I have family in flyover country, and some of it's beautiful.

19. The Kansas City Airport is in Missouri. We're still good with Vegas.
We'll just have to head north a little bit and fly over Nebraska for a while before heading south.

Gonna be a good trip, ain't it bro?

3. well....
I'm responding as a Californian who moved to Kansas a couple of years ago.

First of all, the whole state is not one big mass of bible thumpers.

Second, there are many good Democrats here - my congressman is a Democrat (albeit a 'moderate') and our governor is one of the most popular Democrats in the country, although everyone in the party pretty much ignores her.

The first thing I did when I moved here was join a MoveOn group, and yes, there's a vibrant community of Democratic liberal activists in Kansas. There were tons of Kerry signs in my neighborhood in '04.

I can't explain Roberts/Brownback, but they're much more a product of moderate Republicans - lots of them here - than the Intelligent Design crowd.

Sorry to get defensive, but we're not all to blame for a few nuts here.

4. Actually, we had a lietenant gov who almost forced that.
I can't remember his name, but there was a lt gov in KS when I was a kid who wanted to ban alcoholic beverages on airplanes that flew over the state. KS was dry back then.

Anyone else remember this?

He was going to make planes divert so as to not fly over KS airspace.

6. Vern Miller?
The scourge of Kansas? The sound of toilets flushing all over campus is the sound that comes to mind when I think of him.

I was in college and we had a very extensive warning system in place for when he was nearby.

15. I think it stinks
because we see these over and over. I am sick to death of it as I am certain other DUers are sick of the nasty spirited things said about their states. When you work as hard as we have to work to get anything done the last thing we need is nastiness coming from people supposedly on our side. Lighten yourself up and go so something constructive like cleaning up your own damned state.

9. Hilarious. Where do you live?
I'm sure I can come up with some laughs as well.

Don't confuse a couple of dumbass members of the Board of Education, who are going to be voted out, with the population of the state.

enough time myself laughing at it.

13. My wife suggested a compression algorithm for Kansas
It takes forever to drive across that state, and it all looks exactly the same.

But the Eastern and Southeastern portion is actually quite beautiful.

21. sounds fine to me
after all they just cause those "cloud trails" or whatever they are called :tinfoilhat:

besides that, any flying I do will likely be done from KCI anyway and although it has Kansas in its name, it is actually in Missouri, just like "big" Kansas City.

But what does Jesus mentioning airplanes have to do with anything? Jesus never mentioned French Fries, bicycles or broadband internet either, so why single out aeroplanes? In what way do airplanes take away life's purpose and deny that humans have souls like people might say Darwin does?

Also, are you aware that other states, such as blue Minnesota have similar laws visa vie evolution, or is Kansas just an easy target because of that tanj book.

22. Most People in Kansas are so stupid They:........
* Wait on the street corner with a piece of bread to get some traffic jam.

* Salute the refrigerator because it is a General Electric.

* Went to the lumber yard to see the Board of Education.

* Bring a ladder to a party because the drinks are on the house.

* Take their pregnant wives to the grocery store because they hear they have free delivery.
