1. I agree with Bill Mahr
Bush shouldn't get the chance to be impeached on such important matters, he should be impeached on bullshit charges like Bill was.

So I say impeach him for lying about how big that perch was he caught.! :)

2. Do you think
it would be right for them to try to impeach President Clinton over a stain on a blue dress, or not?

For that last time, it was about the lie! Bush hasn't lied about...uh...oh, wait a minute. Never mind.

3. they must see it coming -
time to innoculate the issue and start building the appearance of majority opposition to such an effort.

4. Lancing the boil
Since Faux "News" is the Whitehouse's propoganda arm, I'd imagine the intention is for them to put the impeachment question out there in order to get everyone throughly sick of the idea before the real thing ever comes up. Trial by media to cut off the possibility of trial by, well, trial.

Anyone know how to correct this things to remove Faux's inbuilt bias?

9. Actually, you got me thinking
My theory is that they're sending up a trial balloon to see how the faithful Fox listener feels. Remember that is their base and the desired demographic. Oh, and don't believe the percentages that are so high. If you have 2 people who claim they're Democrats, and one is for and one is against, that's 50% for each based on all Democrats polled.

The letter that Mehlman or the RNC sent out screaming about disaster if the Dems take over is all about * not getting impeached and bogging down Congress with all those nasty hearings.

In other words, I think they're taking the temperature.

10. Could be
Although, given the cult of personality, I have to wonder if Faux's allegiance is to the Republican party or to Bush personally.

11. Regardless
of the Ministry of Information's loyalty, the point is to keep the House and Senate in Republican hands and stop the impeachment proceedings. The RNC can focus on no other thing. Thus, the wedge issues of fear, immigration and gay marriage. They are way too busy doing the Devil's work for those who would show up to vote on these issues alone to deal with that impeachment nonsense.

These bozos know they're going down.

12. Not so sure
Never discount Diebold or some other assortment of dirty tricks. Of course, I doubt Bush is intending to leave office anyway. So long as the votes are tallied on machines even I could hack into (note to the nice people in Quantico now reading this: I am not going to actually do so, and isn't your job kind of dull?), it doesn't matter how pissed the electorate get. All that has to be done is keep enough Republican's on conservative Democrats (I'd say "conservative Republican" but that's a redundancy these days) in either house to block impeachment proceedings and as long as they control how the votes are counted, that's a walk in teh park.

I never discount dirty tricks. I'm from Florida. :)

The polls are pointing heavily towards Dems and neither the media nor the Mighty Republican Wurlitzer could possibly say that Republicans have nothing to worry about this time. Any tampering (and there will be "glitches", and it will be ugly because these are local races, and there will be recount suits with no paper to back it up) will certainly be noticed and examined. They still have to rely on the lonely 20-something percent and those too stupid to decide for themselves but who like a particular local or national wedge issue enough to make it look realistic-ish.

Hey! Welcome to DU! :donut:

15. Hmmm...Independents 2/1 against impeachment, Dems split 48/43%
Yeah, lets win back the house and then scream impeachment for 2 years when 2/3 of the country doesn't want it. Is that our ticket to winning back congress and the White House? If so, we're pathetic.

Bush is disgraced and humiliated and should be our punching bag for the next two years, giving us tons of free shots. Impeachment would free up the Republicans to select new, untainted faces prior to 2008. Is this really what we want?

Revenge is a dish best served cold...There's no way 67 current senators will EVER vote to convict Bush of impeachable offenses and if we want to waste retaking the house with quixotic crusades bound to fail, then fine-have at it.

I'd much rather have George out there, twisting slowly in the wind, bringing down the electoral chances of Republicans with every breath that he takes. Maybe its just me.

18. I'd much rather have him and Cheney impeached.
They're both bastards, and nobody ever deserved it more. It's the only just course. To the rest of the world, America already looks like it no longer knows what justice is. Interesting because at one time justice was what we stood for. Impeach the little sons of bitches. They deserve it!
