Look Out: Hillary's "Definitely Vote Against Her" Numbers Shrinking !

Hillary Meter: Clinton Bouncing Back!
Survey of 1,000 Adults

May 15-16, 2006

Election 2008

If Hillary Runs?

Definitely Vote For 31%
Def Vote Against 33%
Depends On Who She Runs Against 28%
RasmussenReports.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 18, 2006--While George W. Bush is sinking in the polls, Senator Hillary Clinton is bouncing back. Thirty-one percent (31%) of Americans say they would definitely vote for the former First Lady if she runs for President in 2008. Just 33% will definitely vote against her.

That's a striking improvement over the past two weeks. Our last Hillary Meter poll found that just 26% would definitely vote for her while 39% would definitely vote against. In fact, the current poll results are the most positive ever recorded for Senator Clinton over the past year-and-a half (see trends).

It remains to be seen whether these numbers reflect lasting change or statistical noise. Crosstabs are available for Premium Members.

The number who view Senator Clinton as politically liberal fell to 42%, matching the lowest level every. Another 33% see her as politically moderate.

In January 2005, 51% saw Clinton as politically liberal. She moderated her image in the early part of last year, but the number seeing her as liberal has not consistently dipped below the 45% range.

Collectively, today’s Hillary Meter places Senator Clinton a net 50 points to the left of the nation's political center. Two weeks ago, she was 52 points to the left of center. A month ago, she was 56 points to the left.

2. God, they sure are trying to pick the Dem candidate.
Edited on Sat May-20-06 11:36 AM by Marr
And it's the single worst choice imaginable. Hillary doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell, no matter what the GOP pollsters say (Rasmussen- c'mon- you've got to be kidding me).

Besides- why risk everything to gain nothing? Hillary's right next door to Joe Lieberman.

11. I try. I hope alot of other do, too.
Since Hillary's got Rasmussen (the GOP's polling outlet) suggesting she should run, I do hope there are some other people campaigning against the idea, yes.

3. Obviously, they didn't poll DU members.
I'd rather put my fingers in the blender than vote for her.

4. This is like standing in New York Harbor
and trying to see a ship leaving Great Britain. It's just too damn early yet.

But at this time, I can't imagine anything that is going to make me jump up and down with enthusiasm for her to get the nomination.

5. I wonder how much of this is Rove and the RNC putting their collective
thumb on the scale. The Rs really want Hillary to be the candidate. I don't think she would win in the general election. I won't vote for a Dem dynasty either. God help us if Jebbie is on the ticket too. I couldn't stomach another Bush/Clinton campaign.

6. If Hillary wants to stay in office-any office-she'd better start listening
to the people who put her in office NOT the corporate bastards she really works for.

Hillary can start by talking a strong stance AGAINST the war in Iraq-just as Cindy Sheehan asked her to do! But if she does so, how pathetic is it that she would do it ONLY to get votes, instead of doing it because it's the RIGHT THING TO DO?!

Gawd forbid she ever runs for president! :grr: :puke:

15. Numerous reasons
1) Her unyelding support for this bullshit war.

2) Cozying up to people like Rupert Murdoch

3) Supporting silly crap like a flag-burning admendment

And, finally, from my perspective, I simply don't want another Clinton as president. I feel that any liberal who wants her as our nominee is showing an extreme lack of originality, pretty much copying the Republican approach of running relatives of past presidents. 300 million people in this country and the only plausible candidates are these tired old retreads? Give me a break.

I'm saving my support for people like Edwards and Feingold. Both are young guys who represent much-needed change in the country.

18. I don't see that
I think a lot of people see Bill Clinton as leaps and bounds better than Bush, and so is Hillary. But that doesn't mean that either of them are the best possible Democrat to be President.

12. Hillary/Low Blow Joe! Because we like the ring of President Newt!
Hillary cannot win.
But if we run her she might as well pick Low Blow Joe
as her running mate. Low Blow will declare Newt the
winner before the votes are counted, saving us a lot of time.

17. Looks like Fox is going to have to up the smear
Either that or people will learn that she is a human being with problems and pimples, like everyone else.

Shes been banged with the smear stick for so long people dont know her. They think shes a mythical monster like Bigfoot or the Loch ness. Ive seen her speak and shes powerful. She spoke with a panel of repub and Dem men , she blew them all out of the water . She had better answers and she looked much more powerful than I ever remember from when the Big Dog was Pres. I dont know what happened but trust me, shes for real.
