I saw the tabloid The Globe in the checkout line, RE: Bush
It had shrub and pickles on the cover, saying how they don't speak to each other, she's mad bacause he won't go to rehab for drinking, she wants a divorce, etc. I couldn't quite bring myself to buy it, but I got alot of amusement out of the fact that the pres is on a tabloid. Wonder if the Globe has a web site. Har Har Har!

5. It says that they
barely speak to each other and don't even want to be in the same room. He's bitter and they have nasty fights. There's a nasty feud between Laura and Babs and Georgie sticks up for mommy dearest. Also she has people watching him to make sure he doesn't drink. He had been seen tossing down a Texas size shot of whiskey.

Plus it has that pic of Laura that's floating over here. The one with her eyes wide open. Comparing it to another pic and saying she's had a facelift.

7. pre 2000 selection there was a TV interview with Laura and W's mother
the discussion I saw at salon's tabletalk claimed that there was evidence in the interview that W abused Laura, that she had 'learned' not to question or contradict him

anyone here remember anything like that?????

12. I did hear that she said
she'd learned not to say anything about his speeches early on because he'd get angry when she criticized them.

OK I figured I'd just find the quote from the interview with Laura bush. Don't know if this is the one you meant though.

QUESTION: You, of course, are very close to one former first lady, Barbara Bush. What is the best advice that you may have received from her?

BUSH: Barbara Bush is so terrific. She's very fun and very funny. She came in last Sunday for my birthday. And she and I went to my sister-in-law's play. My sister-in-law Margaret is an actress. The famous advice, which I've told 100 times, and I'll tell it one more time, was when George was running for Congress in 1977, she said don't criticize his speeches; that she had just criticized her George's speech somewhere, and he'd come home for weeks later with letters saying that was the best speech he had ever given.

(LAUGHTER)

BUSH: So I was very aware of her advice. And I knew it was really good advice, and I was not going to criticize my husband's speeches. And I really was very careful about it. And one night we were driving from Lubbock to Midland and just as we turned into our driveway, he said, "Tell me the truth, how was my speech?" And I said, well, it wasn't that good. And with that, he drove into the garage wall.

19. He seems like too much of a whimp. He is the last guy I'd suspect.
He's such a little cry-baby, always getting someone else to do his bidding.

6. Speaking of tabloids
whatever happened to the follow up several months ago about Bush's drinking problem in The Inquirer? Supposedly, there was going to be some explosive blockbuster coming out after the release of that issue. Whatever. If the tabloids are down on *, that truly signifies the erosion of the "base".

11. If you've lost The Globe...
Face it - he's toast.

The trailer-park moms are a growing demographic, far more than the government statistics will ever show.

Pretty soon, they'll start asking questions and explaining the articles to their NASCAR husbands.

The decline has started and it won't be pretty.

Just ask Bill Clinton.

24. I've heard more than once that a lot of mainstream newspapers will work
out a deal to have the tabloids break an extraordinary story, then the mainstream will back it up. Didn't that happen with the Downing Street Memo?

13. Most of these rags have a small shred of truth to their stories.
Theres something to this, but maybe not.

It could be true if it werent false.

I really do believe this story ..but Im not convinced.

Funny how all the Tabloids are taking turns bashing Bush now.

When the War began they were waving the flags and on and on.

Now it i Katie bar the door on the Bush Trash!

Yea for the Tabloids, the ones that everybody reads in line!

18. Okay, so I bought it
As someone else posted, I also think that there is at least a smidgen of truth in some of these scandal sheets so I could not resist buying this one.

I especially liked (and believed) this part:
"We've never seen him so down," says the friend."Everything's getting to him. He just can't understand why Amefica seems to be truning on him."

20. Is THIS the Fat Lady singing??....
Unflattering pictures and storys in the tabs?

Hope so.
I don't want bush* going down without a lot of public shame, ridicule, and lifelong embarrassment for the entire Bush family.
I dream of the day when the ONLY human being who will play golf with him is OJ.
