Selling air at the 7-ll
Seven-Eleven Japan will start marketing the new product, "O2 Supli," at select stores in the Tokyo area later this month and expand sales nationwide in June.

"People are under a lot of stress and can't get much exercise, so they aren't getting enough oxygen," said Minoru Matsumoto, a spokesman for Seven & I Holdings Co Ltd, Seven-Eleven's parent company.

"This is especially true of people who do long hours of desk work in front of a computer. They don't breathe that deeply."

The oxygen will be sold for 600 yen ($5.50) in 3.2-liter spray cans of 95 percent pure oxygen, each of which comes with a small plastic mask attached to the top.

In the 50's you would have been seen as a fool if you sold bottled water..now it's everywhere because clean water is becoming more scarce..wars are being fought over water now..And since natural sources of water is polluted it is profitable to sell it filtered
Very convienent for the greedy and ruthlessly selfish control freaks aye?
http://www.southendpress.org/2004/items/WaterWars..

And air is polluted...What's the next hot trend? Bottled oxygen..coming to a store near you! Who'da thunkit?

The very people making it so polluted! Create Problem ,generate a reaction and sell the "solution"..Captialistic exploitation of the oblivious masses bigtime.
Total recall anyone?
Bottled oxygen. Fancy that.

The bus pulls up outside a modern tourist hotel. The
buildings surrounding it have a much more improvised, temporary look. Most are pre-fabricated structures. The streets are crowded and there is a "frontier-town"atmosphere. Stalls sell fruit and vegetables, also water and air containers.

3. Sure it's goofy
But think about it bottled water sold for almost two bucks is taken as a given.Sometimes it costs more.
Not all that long ago you could drink directly out of some springs and rivers..for FREE..not anymore.

If the Earths air supply is getting thin it could be from deforestation,pollution,ozone,and/or other factors causing it..Bad news for us poor fools but for the wealthy it's great news for them for they are exploiters and plunderers selling off access to the necessities of life to those willing to pay for what the Earth once gave for free..Pigs looking to open a market selling air to people oblivious they have been living in a cesspool of aerial pollutants .( air pollution might be one of the causes why Americans are so obese and so many kids get asthma..).Look at all the air filters for the home in 1980 you didn't see them advertised everywhere...
Something is happening here...what it is it ain't all that clear...
It is sad.Who owns the breathable air?

5. There is still enough oxygen to breathe.
This says more about the Japanese penchant for buying unnecessary items with no real value on a whim. They love being wrapped in saran wrap, or suction cup treatments "for weight loss", they stick little magnets all over their bodies to cure ailments and pains, etc. none of which have any demonstrable medical benefit. But then again, we Americans are just as bad. Women in the US buy shampoo because it has "pro-vitamin complex" as though the dead cells that make up hair could absorb vitamins or benefit from them. Never underestimate the ignorance (often willful) of the consumer. There will always be plenty of rubes who will line up for the latest "thneed".

Want more oxygen, for free? Just sit down near some plants and do some deep breathing exercises. It's just as good.

Oh yeah, another thing they love over here is products dealing with blood type. They think that the blood type reveals everything about temperament and compatibility, etc. They even sell breath mints and perfumes that are supposed to be customized to certain blood types. Whatever.

7. Be carefull if you're wearing makeup.
Pure oxygen can cause some oils, such as may be used in make up lipsticks, to combust.

9. It's so much easier
than doing yoga or something.

As the air becomes more polluted - it probably will get to being more of a thing - whether someone can afford to buy fresh air to breathe.

10. what was that movie where people from the future have to smoke constantly
because their bodies can't handle the clean air of the past. That is what came to mind for me.

Too weird.
