1. Damn, I was hoping for "leave politics" not the party

2. I'd literally prefer losing the seat to re-electing Lieberman.
The damage he does to the party and the cover that he gives to Bush far outweighs his decent voting record.

16. So would I.
Lieberman is always there to undermine Democrats and offer "bipartisan" cover for the most corrupt of Republican legislation.

3. He has no creditability as an independent, I hope he does run
as an independent and leaves the party for good. Interesting gossip at the convention.

4. Hey, it's a start.
One step at a time I guess until we get a REAL Democrat to replace him.

7. It's an exciting rumor and may explain why, over the last several weeks,
Lieberman refused to rule out a bid as an independent if he lost the primary to Ned Lamont.

On the other hand, we have to wait to see what happens. Lieberman just won the party endorsement, and despite a strong challenger, may fight for his turf.

I haven't seen the Fighter in Joe Lieberman in eons. It would be interesting to see.

Bush may come to Joe's rescue and offer him a Cabinet post. That might be the best way out for Joe.

I'm not much of a betting man, but I'll put a cold case of excellent beer on a Lamont victory in the August primary in Connecticut.

8. And if Bush does a bailout
Joe can keep his Democrat status just to hurt the party more by joining the asshole on his team.

It's people like Lieberman, Zell Miller, Dianne Feinstein, etc. that make everyone think we're the same as Republicans and if you have to choose between Republican and Republican-lite then at least back the ones who speak louder.

9. Do we know if that one guy there is generating the rumor or
repeating it from sources inside the convention itself?

That would be interesting to know.

11. Hi, charlie. Thanks for that. Well, it's still kind of exciting.
Lieberman may be capable of a tougher fight than I think, but in recent years he just seems to be in slow motion, as if he's not getting things.

It seems as if a lot of Democrats in Connecticut are trying to tell him something, and he's not hearing it.

15. I'll believe it when I see him do it.
It would be an honest move though. He should be independent IMO. Too rightwing on foreign policy for many democrats and too left on domestic issues for wingnuts.
