check out this excellent slam at mcdonald's in costa rica.....
some artist put up an excellent piece of work on a wall of a vacant building near the mcdonald's in san pedro. i saw it and the next day i went back with my camera and it was torn down, probably by the owner of the mcdonald's franchise.

so, yesterday while on a bus in san pedro, i saw an identical work on a wall a little further down the street from the mcdonald's. i returned later with my camera to capture it.

i hope you all enjoy it as much as i did. it really captures the essence of mickey dee's:

8. i think the artist was probably referring to the fact that....
...mcdonald's sells horrible food with absolutely no nutritional value but markets it as everyday food for families.

sure, mcdonald's is charitable. they ought to be, they're filthy rich. even chimpy and cheney donate to charities.

11. hard to say what he/she does with their time....
...as for donating money, probably not. people here in the third world don't have gobs of cash laying around so they don't need to set up charities to get tax breaks. people here are mostly just trying to make ends meet.

16. first world nations, third world nations, developing nations....
...i've read a little about this and information is usually vague on the subject.

but trust me, we're definitely the third world down here. and places like mcdonald's are bad for many reasons. first of all, mickey dee's and other big burger joints have long supported the beef industry in the third world and that meant locals cutting and burning rainforest to have more space for more cattle to keep up with the demand for burgers in the US. additionally, the presence of the places like mcdonald's in the third world means more and more people will be drawn away from the local businesses, putting more small business owners out of work.

so, if you dig mickey dee's because of the charity work they do, that's cool. i'm with you. but their business of selling crap food is disgusting and i'd like to see ronald macdonald tossed to the crocs here in costa rica.

25. The terms First World and Second World are outdated,
and never really 'caught on' anyhow.

20. i don't know much about nicaragua......
....it's certainly cheaper there. other than that, i don't know. i would probably pick panama over nicaragua. costa rica is more expensive than either, but it's certainly more stable here.

15. yeah, i hate the fact that they market their food in a way to.....
....hide the potential dangers of eating too much of it.

sure, people should know better...but, these fast food places should be held accountable for poisoning people if they refuse to improve the quality of their food.
