Here it is in full color at the DNC site...the GOP Culture of Corruption
Just in case we forget who the bad guys are right now. Refer to this great page at least twice a day when you feel like attacking a fellow Democrat.

The Corruption Files

There are four sections to this:

1. Corruption and Abuse of Power

2. Cronies

3. Smear Campaigns (which is what made me think of this page at the DNC site today)

4. Coverups/Stonewalling

Quite a long page but in sections. Keep it handy.

1. And even more in the press release section...
Which of course is not getting picked up with regularity by the media.

http://www.democrats.org/press.php

There is a drop down menu at the bottom for the archives. Good stuff.

9. You are welcome.
It is a great page, well done, and many just don't know about it or the Press Release pages which the Press dutifully ignores.

13. The media is under assault by the Junta. It is more important
that we become the media. Act as if our freedom hangs in the balance. It does.

4. Corruption is in both both parties...
They just caught a Democrat on tape taking over a $100,000 bribe from an FBI informant.

5. That is not what I said.
Look at the charts...this GOP administration is filled with it. There are pages and pages.

Concentrating on just one Democrat is the tactic to deflect from their own sins.

7. My point is that both parties are corrupt...
The way the DNC site is set up is that all Republicans are corrupt and all Democrats are saints. That's not true at all...
And it isn't just one Democrat. The Democrats have had their fair share of scandals as well over the years.

This is one of the reasons why a one-party system needs to be avoided.

8. In this case the corruption on their side is simply overwhelming.
There is just no comparison right now. They are destroying our country.

16. There has never been anything comparable to the corruption
Edited on Mon May-22-06 11:42 AM by Catrina
that is unfolding on a daily basis under this current administration. Yes, in the PAST there has been corruption in both parties, but if you think there is anything comparable, please post a link.

Here are just a few examples of what we are dealing with in the Republican Party RIGHT NOW. This corruption determined the state of the country today, the disastrous war, the failure to deal with natural disasters but to profit from them.

Are you aware that in the past few months, several top WH employees have been arrested?

Republican WH director of Procurements: Safavian, arrested and charged with lying to Federal agents in the Abramoff Affairs.

Republican Claude Allen: Resigned his position (Domestic Affairs) and was arrested for petty theft shortly after. He was also a Bush Judicial Nominee cheered on by the right.

Republican Top WH official, 'Scooter Libby' ~ indicted on 5 counts of perjury and OOJ. in the Valerie Plame case.

Republican Congressman Randy Duke Cunningham convicted of taking bribes from two Defense Contractors and now serving 8 years in jail. As a result of his cooperation another emerging scandal of corruption, bribary, prostitutes, cronyism and questionable war contracts is being investigated.

Republican Congressman Tom Delay ~ indicted in Texas and soon-to-be indicted in the Abramoff affairs

Republican Aide to Tom Delay, Rudy, I believe recently entered a plea and is now cooperating with the prosecution.

Republican Larry Franklin Franklin, convicted of passing sensitive information to a foreign government in the Pentagon Spy case and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Republican Members of AIPAC, Rosen and Weissman, indicted and currently on trial for passing sensitive information to a foreign government.

Republican Governor Ryan and several members of his administration, all Republicans were recently convicted on multiple charges of corruption.

Republican Governor Rowland of Conn. who campaigned for Bush before being convicted and going to jail, from which he was just released.

Republican Governor Taft of Ohio convicted of misdeamors, but still serving!!

Republican Tom Noe indicted on 50 charges of corruption in another big Ohio scandal, Coingate

Republican Tobin, in the election phone jamming case, convicted this week and this may lead to further investigations, right up to the WH.

Republican Top Lobbyist Abramoff convicted of corruption and currently cooperating with various federal prosecuters in so many cases of corruption I can't list them all here.

Republican Scanlon, Abramoff partner, convicted and cooperating.

Republican Adam Kidan, Abramoff partner, convicted and cooperating also.

And related to the Abramoff affairs there was the Mafia hit on a Florida business in the Suncruz purchase by Abramoff and Kidan. The Mafia hitmen were 'consultants' to Abramoff partner, Adam Kidan:

Three mafia hitmen: Arrested and charged for the Florida murder of Gus Boulis, business associate of Kidan and Abramoff in the purchase of Suncruz Casinos. The three accused men received large sums of money as business consultants of Abramoff partner, Kidan. Kidan has been a suspect in this case, although no charges have been filed against him, yet.

......

Under suspicion and investigation:

Republican Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert regarding illegal dealings in Turkey

Republican Majority Leader of the Senate, Bill Frist being investigated for insider trading

Republican ~ Griles, assist. to Gale Norton in the Dept. of the Interior

Republican Dept. of the Interior employees, several of whom took the 5th at the Senate hearings.
Republican ~ Sen. Conrad Burns and former aide (both deny any wrongdoing)

Republican ~ Sen. Cornyn (he denies any wrongdoing)

Republican Christian Fundamentalist ~ Ralph Reed

Republican strategist ~ Grover Norquist, (Abramoff's Reed's and Kidan's mentor when they were Young Republicans in their college years).

I have to get back to work, but that is just a partial list of convictions and indictments which I am going to update later and copy and keep available whenever anyone tries to say that there has been anything like this EVER before in our history.

Here's a list of Republican scandals currently under investigation so far:

The Abramoff Affairs: So many, this needs a sublist of its own, but combined they are expected to bring down many top Republicans in Congress, the Senate and the WH.

The Pentagon Spy Case: Pre-trial hearings are already going on, and Condoleeza Rice has been called as a witness. This imo, is one of the most serious scandals because it involves possible treason committed by top government officials.

The CIA Spy Case: Still ongoing

Hookergate: Prostitutes may be a minor part of this Republican scandal. So far corruption regarding war contracts, defense contractors, a Limo Company, Homeland Security are all implicated in this emerging scandal.

Coingate: Several members of the Ohio Republican party may be involved in this scandal ~

As far as Democrats and corruption. I can think of only two offhand who are under suspicion. One is Jefferson, and if he's guilty we need to get rid of him.

But if you can post a list of Democratic corruption that even compares to this, please do. And this is just over the years since the Bush Administration took office.

17. Yeah, about 1% of the scandals

11. The degree of corruption is vastly different at this time
W is running the most corrupt, power-mad administration I've seen in my lifetime.

The republican congress makes laws written by lobbyists and then gets caught up in bribery scandals, a la Duke Cunningham. Jack Abramhoff bilks Indian tribes out of millions and then donates only to Republicans. M$M loves to say that Democrats got money related to Abramhoff, but this came from Indian tribes that have always donated to Democrats. Abramhoff never gave a dime to a Democrat.

Jeff Gannon, a former gay male prostitute, was given access to White House press briefings and visited the White House dozens of times. He represented Talon News, a RW sponsored web site and asked the most brown-nosed questions I've ever heard.

You may mean well, but you're playing into the Republican spin, that everybody does it.
