Your liberties or your life

Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) explaining why parts of the Bill of Rights might have to be set aside while we fight the terrorists:

"You have no civil liberties if you are dead."

A shame he wasn't around to talk some sense into Patrick Henry.

2. At least...

At least he's not playing the fear card.

If we destroy the constitution, can this protect me from ever getting hit by lightning? The probability of dying by lighting is probably a million times more likely than dying by terra-ist.

3. Again his statement reminds me of the cold war statement
Better red than dead.
WE are ether with them or against them I guess, ether red or or the new color of traitor...blue

4. Why don't the dems call these statements cowardly fear-mongering?
Ben Franklin didn't think Roberts' approach would work either.

5. Patrick Henry Was Also Wrong About Torture!
"They may introduce the practice of France, Spain, and Germany--of torturing, to extort a confession of the crime. They will say that they might as well draw examples from those countries as from Great Britain, and they will tell you that there is such a necessity of strengthening the arm of government, that they must have a criminal equity, and extort confession by torture, in order to punish with still more relentless severity. We are then lost and undone." - Patrick Henry
