worst spin ever
On Sunday, Gonzales said the confusion was an issue of "semantics."
"The president has never been supportive of English only or English as the official language, but certainly we support the fact that English is the national language of the United States of America."

So it's not the official language it's only the national language. That clears that up... what?

1. it's a perfectly logical position
actually, and one I happen to share.

English as the official language means only English can be used in official capacities. English as the national language recognizes that while other languages are spoken English is, by far, the dominant one used by citizens of the nation in communication with each other.

6. I'm pretty sure
it's an empty meaningless statement made by him so that you will insert your own logical construct to the difference between an "official" language and a "national" language.

7. And then Bush steps in to help out
with more stupid spin. So the Terrorist progress is INSTANT while Bushes progress is so slow that I infact can't measure it... and that's good news?

"Our progress is incremental," Bush said during a freewheeling question-and-answer session with restaurant industry representatives after a speech on Iraq and the war on terror. "Freedom is moving, but it's in incremental steps and the enemy's progress is almost instant on their TV screens."

Gonzales is now using Bushisms.

Could it be a virus that affects the brain?

5. Wait, wait, there's something NEW here!
Gonzales, a Dubya cabinet member" is supporting a FACT.

"certainly we support the fact that English is the national language of the United States of America"

:wow: :wow: :wow:

That by itself should be headline news!!

:sarcasm:
