Poll question: How should the smear campaign Censure Jimmy Carter be dealt with?
Edited on Mon May-22-06 01:16 PM by Humor_In_Cuneiform
I saw 2 ads about this on CNN this morning.

It is classic Rove, when you feel threatened attack someone else. In fact attack their perceived strength and try to turn it into a horrible, traumatic thing for the individual and party etc.

Here is the stupid site with the petition:

1. Neocons hurt themselves with...

...that ad, no counter ad is needed. The more exposure it gets the better for Dems. It shows Neocons for the extremist fanatics that they are.

2. Hell yes, make a counter ad
and show all the pictures you can find of Republicans and neo-cons sucking up to despots and tyrants, and there are plenty.

That is a can of worms these hypocritical asswipes do NOT want to open.

Screw them!

4. Since when can government silence an american citizen? Carter is no longer
in office and he doesn't work for the government, so no matter how many idiots sign, theres nothing they can do to stop Carter from voicing his opinion. It would amount to trying to censure Tom Cruise or any other public figure. Stupid freepers get dumber by the day.

7. Move America Forward...
which is funded by some of the richest and most powerful people in this country, including the Walton family. Carter has obviously pissed them off, and that's a good thing.

He is becoming more and more of a populist figure as time goes on, one of the few among any politicians, current or former.

8. I'm wondering that myself--doesn't censure only apply to an officeholder?

6. Personally, I would favor calling in airstrikes on anyone who
proposes a censure of Jimmy Carter.

Anyone who is so manipulative to instigate that proposal or craven or stupid enough to go along with it should have his or her house blasted off the face of the globe by guided missiles, and lots of them.

Jimmy Carter is the juiciest peach Georgia ever produced and we need to stand with him on this one.

11. LOL! Just ignore them.
If this is Rove's doing, he's right about one thing - Carter *IS* a major strength of the Bush opposition.

12. How can you censure a private citizen?
Former President Carter is now a private citizen with the right of free speech. It is a stupid idea these rubes came up with. Can not go anywhere...yet.

They would have to censure each American's right of free speech in order to do so.

How come the Republicans want us to loose the war on terror?

Why do they want to let the terrorists win by destroying out country?

IF they ever really get it rolling wait till they actually censure him or at least gets kicked around within Congress for real, then run ads questioning why the GOP wants to deny 1st Amendment rights to a private citizen - Jimmy Carter now - who's next?

Edit to add, Carter has a pretty thick skin. I doubt he needs us to defend him. And whatever is done should, in all fairness, be coordinated with his office. The man deserves better than to be a football.
