Jon Stossel on last night's Colbert Report.
I searched the past posts, but came up with nothing. Did anybody see this fucker go on about how our public schools are worthless?

His new "investigative special" on ABC sometime (who cares) compared test scores of american kids with European kids, where naturally the eurokids outscored our kids...but he drew some silly conclusion out of his ass and said that Europe has competition in schools!:wtf:
So big, socialist EU is a haven for private schools and vouchers now? I find that VERY hard to believe.

Stephen almost trumped him later on though.... "You know what I don't get? The FAA! Why do we need it? Who are they to say that I cannot fly my plane at 30,000 feet at the same time as your plane is at 30,000 feet? Wouldn't the invisible hand of free markets solve that problem?"

Stossel's response was pure randian nonsense..."Of course, airlines don't want to kill their passengers, so I'm sure they would work that out with themselves. I agree with you. We have no need for an FAA.":eyes:

Stossel has to be one of the most smug, and disingenuous creeps on TV, which is saying a lot...it's a box that also has Bill O'Reilly on it.

1. Yes! He irked the crap out of me... on the other hand Jebby just
lost his vouchers didn't he? So this "report" may not do much to influence the debate.

2. He said something about spying on Americans is ok too...
if it keeps us safe.

I DON'T FEEL ANY SAFER! You should do a segment on how many terrorists we have captured this way. You should have enough footage for about .25 seconds you kool-aid drinking shill!

:rant off:

6. Another Princeton grad....hmmmmm....
I can't stand this smug bastard.

He graduated from Princeton in 1969 -- the year they finally went co-ed. (Last of the Ivy League to do so...)

Maybe we should see what "clubs" he belonged to.

16. It wasn't princeton that made him that way...
...In his early TV career he was a pretty good consumer reporter.

And after he'd established his "cred" as a "for the people" reporter, he noticed it would be better for his career to CATOize his reporting and just focus on (or invent) government waste and inefficiency, not on corporate manipulation and wrongdoing.

10. That would make sense for Ireland, being a catholic country.

I didn't know that about France though. I can assume Italy and Spain would be the same?
I guess nuns rapping knuckles with rulers makes you smarter.

I think he mentioned Dutch kids, but I could be wrong. Anybody watch his crappy show?

12. Stossel proved his idiocy beyond a doubt on 20/20 once...
It was years ago. Dig this:

He's ranting beneath his pornstache about how the Ben and Jerry's company is "hypocritical". They put on such a good front, so holier than thou, etc. Basically hating on Ben and Jerry's. (?)

His complaint is that the ice cream cartons claimed to be "Dioxin- Free". (Meaning that the paper isn't bleached with dioxin, which is a toxin that leaks into water supplies and poisons all kinds of stuff.)

So there's Stossel, interviewing some very nice, polite Ben and Jerry's spokeswoman. And he's ragging on her because although the carton says it's dioxin-free, THE ICE CREAM IS ACTUALLY TAINTED WITH SMALL AMOUNTS OF DIOXIN! (Gasp) Which is of course because the WATER that the cows DRINK has probably been tainted by dioxin runoff from some unscrupulous industry, which is what Ben and Jerry's is trying to ELIMINATE by making their paper products DIOXIN-FREE. So, while their own cows have probably indeed unavoidably ingested dioxin, Ben and Jerry's as a company are desperately trying not to inflict the same thing on nature themselves. This is all beyond the brainpower of one John Stossel.

So this idiot's entire report was based on his "uncovering" of some totally non-existent hypocrisy. He's a sham, and stupid to boot. A fourth-grader has better reasoning skills (and less facial hair). The sad thing is that most of his arguments are equally half-baked, and his fans, probably equally impaired, never realize that he's full of beans.

You would have to search for this but I read about it years ago. He is a most repugnant person. I do not watch 20 20. Waste of time, and I loathe this whining liar.

14. I do remember one incident years ago.
Where he was being his usual smarmy self, telling a pro-wrestler that it's all fake, and the wrestler bitch slapped him to the ground. They showed it on 20/20. Stossel looked so shocked. I don't remember who the wrestler was, but he's my hero!:woohoo:

19. Vilify & destroy - Stossel is part of the crusade against democracy
he does the vilifying part, the thugs in congress do the defunding part.
Of course public education is a major annoyance for the BFEE - who needs an educated opposition?
