Suspect in Reporter's Death Turns Self In
Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 01:07 AM by txindy
Is this one of those 'World's Dumbest Criminals' cases or is something up? This story is just... odd. He turned himself in because he was curious as to why his face was on TV? :freak:

WASHINGTON - A suspect in the beating death of New York Times reporter David Rosenbaum turned himself in to police Thursday night after TV stations broadcast surveillance images showing his face.

Michael Hamlin, 23, of Washington, saw one of the broadcasts and went to the 7th District police station "inquiring why his face was on TV," said Metropolitan Police Detective Anthony Paci.

Hamlin arrived at the police station around 6 p.m. EST. Police then took him to another police station, where he confessed, Paci said.

Earlier, investigators released surveillance videos showing a man who may have used a credit card stolen from Rosenbaum.

all had cameras. (Perhaps some of the homes of Washington officials & insiders too - diplomats as well). They got him. Not much solace for the family. But the grieving can begin. Would be could if the family of such a journalist could post on line without facing a theory on their father's death. There is no proof of that.

Take a breath. Maybe one bad guy got caught.

5. He didn't get caught.
He saw his face on TV, shown in the process of committing a crime (using a stolen credit card), and showed up at the police station to ask why he was on TV(!). This has to be the stupidest criminal ever. This is right up there with the burglar who got stuck breaking into a store and called 911 to get him out.

What theory are you talking about? This is a candidate for a segment of 'Stupid Criminal Tricks' on Letterman.

Maybe you should take a breath. Sometimes a post is just a post. Or are you so familiar with monumentally stupid criminals that you have no further interest in them? There was all that recent posting you did about thieves who took two days to break open a safe and steal guns, so I guess you're on criminal overload. Take a break.
