Denver finalist for Dem 2008 Convention
DENVER (AP) - One of the major parties' 2008 presidential nominees could be selected in Denver.

The city is one of four in the running for the Democratic National Convention, and Republican officials in Colorado might submit a bid for the GOP convention, city officials said Tuesday.

Denver's chief operating officer, Katherine Archuleta, said the city is supporting the bid for the Democratic convention, and would support a bid for the Republican convention, providing details and help with public-works and safety considerations.

Please let it be the Dems. The thought of this city filled with Repugs make me ill.

2. New Orleans could use a boost. just saying.
Reeps had their last one on the ashes of the Twin Towers. Let's have ours in the mud of Katrina.

3. Unless it's New Orleans, I think it should be in a blue state
I really don't think we should be spending Democratic party money in red states.

7. No such thing as "red" states
Most of the "Red" states were BARELY that way. Been saying this since 2000: We need to think-West-South-Southwest. It would have been BOLD of us to hold it in Hispanic San Antonio, in Shrub's supposedly home state, in 2004. It seems predictable in this article that the safest choice will be New Orleans. Denver would be news, Minneapolis-StPaul would be cool. The Southwest would be bold. Seattle would be fun.

5. Dems yes, Repubs no..
It would be NYC all over again if the Repukes show up here. The Dems would be welcomed in Denver except for the fundies they bus up from Colorado Springs.

9. I am in denver. the area is perfect.
We just finish building an expansion of colorado convention center, added a new hotel across the street (hyatt, I believe) and colorado is deep purple, not red state, and chimp barely won here. Denver has always been very blue forever as I grew up here. Only aberration is Blowens, the Repuke governor, who will be ejected early next year in favor of a Dem. (You should read the editorial "holtzman's puff" under e&o to see why Ritter has a great chance of winning)

8. We would be missing a great oppotunity if we don't go with N.O.
Why? because it would give the city a financial boost and it would pinpoint the Republican administrations record regarding the greatest domestic natural disaster of our time. It is just like in 2004 we should have had our convention in Miami instead of Boston--why Boston? becuz Teddy Kennedy wanted it. Miami would have reminded people of the stolen election of 2000.

10. The only bad thing about N.O.
DINO Ray Nagin's inevitable keynote speech.
