The one obvious choice to clean up this mess in '08 is Al Gore

If only he will run.

After eight years of Bush the country has gone to hell. We are despised by the world. There is a huge debt being left for our children. There is anger and division in this country unseen since the dark days of Watergate and Vietnam.

In the final analysis what this country needs in 2008 is a statesman. A man who has the respect of the world and the experience to lead this nation. A man who has grown over the last eight years and has finally become comfortable with himself and what he believes in and doesn't hesitate to speak out. The man who won the election in 2000 by 550,000 popular votes and if the Supreme Court had not stopped the counting of ballots would have won the electoral vote.

After eight years of George W. Bush can the American people honestly think that the best man won in 2000?

In 1960 the sitting Vice President of the United States lost the presidential election by a whisker and at that time there was talk that the election was stolen. There was some pressure on Richard Nixon to run in 1964 but he realized that it was too soon (and besides no Republican was going to beat Lyndon Johnson that year). He spent those eight years in the wilderness (well almost, he disastrously ran for Governor of California in 1962 and lost) traveling the world and speaking out on foreign policy. Traveling the United States collecting political IOU's and then in 1968 he ran again and took advantage of the disarray in this country and came back to win the 1968 election. If Richard Nixon could do this...Al Gore certainly can.

Run, Mr. President! We need you.

He started with his usual "I'm a recovering politican", but then added "but you always have to watch out for a relapse."

I think he is by far the most electable Democrat out there. I don't believe Senator Clinton is going to beat the deadly combination of a charming, moderate (until in office) Republican candidate, a corporate, Swiftboat enabling media, and electronic voting. Gore is mad as hell and he's not going to take it anymore. Senator Clinton's ego blinds her to the fact that she's being set up by the Right.

take us forward and clean up the mess? I haven't heard anything other than criticism of Pres. Bush and his opinions on Global Warming.

What about affirmative action or education? I like him, but I am just looking for some answers.

On edit: The media never covered his appearances down south, but I was just wondering if he talked about these issues?

Feingold and Gore are very patriotic. Either one would be a true leader...

I'm not saying I wasn't upset when I saw that piece of footage in F9/11; I was. But he was the President of the Senate, and he was the one who had the election stolen. He gets it from both sides, whatever he had chosen to do. From the left, for not urging a Senator to sign on with a Representative; and from the right, if he had. The 2000 election was f-ed up big time, and while I absolutely believe it was stolen from Gore, I do think he was in a very bad situation. Rather than looking at him negatively for that, though, I look at him positively, in that I think he HAS grown, has gotten stronger, etc., in the intervening years.

I could understand completely if Gore ultimately refused the gig.

The country is so f***ed up, it would take all his time to clean up the mess, rather than implement his own plans.

He could be a great multi-tasker, but don't expect miracles. There's still a compliant (RW) media and they're sharpening their knives once again for Gore.

Gore is hoping that we democrats (grassroot democrats) would draft him for 2008. There was a group who tried that in 2004 , but I don't think it was time then , but now I think it could work, and he would accept.

It is going to take someone willing to roll up their sleeves up and grab the bull by the horns..

I think Gore could do this, the question is does he want to? I also think Feingold could do this and would love to see the two of them working to restore our environment and our rights....

The American people view him as a loser. I'm sorry, but they do. Ask any sheep-like person and they will TELL you that Bush won the 2000 and 2004 elections.

Blame it on the media, blame it on weak-kneed Democrats in leadership positions, but that's what the average voter thinks.

Don't get me wrong, I would support Al Gore 100 percent, but I'm just pointing out the obvious.

After Bush the First left the U.S. economy a wreck in 1992 - one of the reasons he lost to Clinton, Gore was the one who carefully trimmed the federal payroll to save without destroying the government. He was largely behind measures requiring all federal agencies to significantly reduce energy consumption on a strict timetable.

Gore is the man with the fiscal savvy and responsibility to pull us out of the crushing federal debt created by Moron Jr.

He's too busy with his Global Warming issues to Run. Besides, We got Hillary.

Al Gore might indeed be the ONLY person that can save America at this point. PLEASE run Al! :patriot:
