"For all practical purposes, they’ve broken up."
George and Laura, that is ... :) Firedoglake has been reading the gossip mags...
====================================

http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/05/23/late-nite-fdl-the-return-of-the-speculum-set/

<snip>
George and Laura Bush’s marriage has collapsed as his approval ratings plummet and a host of mounting personal problems rip the first couple apart and push them to secretly lead separate lives!

GLOBE has learned that while George and Laura still appear as the first couple at various public functions, they hardly speak to one another in private and don’t even want to be in the same room together.

"When the cameras aren’t on, they have nothing to do with one another," a longtime friend confides to GLOBE. "There’s no interaction at all."

"For all practical purposes, they’ve broken up."

14. Yeah and Tweety went on and on about it yesterday.
People are obsessed with the Clinton marriage - yet everyone takes the Bush marriage at face value. I still think a lot of men are just jealous of Clinton. I mean jealous of his way with the ladies, among other things.

BTW - Tweety went on and on about how he hated to be away from his wife for more than a day or two. It was like he was protesting too much.

He starts to sweat and squirm in his chair every time he mentions her.

And he has a WIFE? A real wife, not a "beard"?

wife for more than a couple of days. He's really afraid that she might wake up and ask herself why she is tied to such a dribble-tongued fcukwit.

81. Tweety's marriage
The lovely misses Tweety was a regular guest once upon a time. There was no doubt in my mind that he had little respect for her and wouldn't allow her to say anything before he would interupt and marginalize her. What a spokesperson for marrital bliss.

I saw video of the event and could detect when she struck that pose. Flashbulbs were going like crazy the whole time they were out there, so it's not surprising that that look has been frozen in time. She was only like that for a split second, but that was enough to give us DUers endless pleasure (or nightmares).

Word is that Bushie already plans to live in a gated community in the Metroplex.

I wouldn't be surprised if Laura starts spending more time "away." In Austin, perhaps? Various charity causes can supply excuses. She & her daughters will occasionally meet to drink margaritas & snark. And she can visit her mother--apparently a better person than the Mother In Law From Hell.

21. Laura, George and the children don't seem to be very close.
The daughters travel with the parents on very rare ocassions (Jenna went to Denmark with her parents) but you never see them at any White House events or any events in the USA for that matter. I've never seen the daughters at the White House except during the 2004 election night and the inaugurals. They may want nothing to do with DC and politics. They did campign for Dad during 2004 but not during 2000 that I can remember.

I wouldn't blame Laura for being pissed at George. He's the most hated man on the planet. How likeable could he possibly be? He's stubborn, arrogant and mean spririted and he has no cultural or intellectual interests.

When will Condi make her move?

And on which one of them?

86. Or what if that yelling he does when angry/frustrated was aimed
at her most of the time. That dropping ratings could cause a lot of anger and frustration. Especially when there doesn't seem to be much he can do about it.

111. He can do EVERYTHING to lift his sagging approval rating.
Of course, it would take either a 180 degree reversal of all his policies, or his resignation. Either of those should lift his numbers a bit.

65. Don't buy it. Laura looks like she loves her job. Especially the balls.
There will be lots of balls when he retires. This is just more crap coming out.. cause the political race is heating up. Of course they want to make George and especially very popular Laura be the victims here.

the WH and a gossip rag to get to the truth. Otherwise - take it with a grain of salt. Nobody is more popular than Laura in the GOP.

Edited on Wed May-24-06 04:07 PM by applegrove
was. Was it that I characterized her as going to have a wail of a time at balls? Cause she as much as said that after the 2004 election - we deserve these balls. Or was it that I told ya not to take something from the globe seriously? Cause other people on this thread said the same thing. I just don't know how I got to ya?

89. Sorry, nothing that serious!!! I was kidding.
I just had a "Beavis and Butthead" moment with the header of your last post, there. My 12 year old sense of humor got the better of me.

So whatever it was that was 'just wrong', was entirely in my own head.

Hope that clears it up.

95. Okay - cause I think any photo of Gannon, even with an elephant
over the jewels, is just wrong. Not sure if I take offense to the Gannon or the elephant. Please leave photos of both in all their glory far away from me. It's just wrong. Elephants are wonderful animals with families and kindness and such. Wrong... GOP should start using the Hippo. Because they hide underwater, beady eyes pocking out, till they attack (and kill more people than elephants do - but nobody tends to mention that) plus they are hippocrites (what else do you call a man attacking vegetarian).
