The host, Ryan Seacrest, said 63.4 million votes were cast this season, boasting, "That's more than any president in the history of our country has ever received."

Damn it really makes you wonder when a bad karoke contest. Draws more votes then a presidental election..

I'm sure more than 63 million votes were cast in the Presidential race just not for the same person. I doubt those 63 million votes were not for the same person either. They made it deliberately misleading, IMO.

8. That's too funny, I just read that on the FRONT PAGE of my local "news"
paper. I knew exactly what you were talking about by your title and I thought the same darn thing. There's a political cartoon in the paper as well, shows two people reading papers and one says 63.4 million vote for Idol and the other one has a headline about low voter turnout and he says that political strategists are doing something wrong.
