ads related layout issue....
We need a little more space between item on the Latest page! The items are scrunched together so closely that the "Discussion started by..." line from each item is only separated from the forum name of the following item by an amount equivalent to the internal spacing within items-- i.e. the dreaded RUN ON SPACING! This is VERY TIRING to read-- the eye won't scan it to pickout items easily (it helps that the subject lines are larger/bold, but the packing is still way too dense)!

1. Go to the latest page
Edited on Thu May-25-06 08:44 PM by Skinner
Then hold the shift key and click Reload/Refresh on your browser.

2. That doesn't work for me
I'm using Firefox. Could that be the problem?

3. It works on firefox too.
I use firefox, and it worked for me.

The problem is that people need to reload the stylesheet. Try this. Go to this page:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duforum.css

And then do a shift-reload/refresh. Then return to the Latest page and see if it's rendering properly.

9. I'm seeing a badly formatted page
with LBN displayed in a very wide column and the latest threads squashed in a very narrow column. It's difficult enough to see under ordinary circumstances, but now even increasing the font doesn't help because the column the threads are squashed into is just too narrow.

It's not my computer. Problem's at your end. The page was loading fine yesterday.

10. I see. This is a different problem than the one the OP had.
That is because of the large ad in the right column. Unfortunately yhere isn't anything you can do at this point. This is an issue that we thought might come up for some of our visitors, but we don't know how many.

What is your monitor resolution?

12. Well, if you're keeping a tally on this wide right hand column problem:
I have the same large right hand column problem - it is now running off the screen, but:

There is no large ad in that column.
There is no ad at all in that column.

I did the shift/reload thingy. Nothing changed.
Same settings on my monitor as before.

I also find the ads I have seen so far extremely innapropriate.

So Skinner, are you saying that if we click and go to these reactionary and godawful scamming commercial sites you will make lots of $$$ for DU? Or did I misunderstand?

Wat

6. I wasn't familiar with ctrl+f5
Looks like that works. I'm pretty sure shift+reload/refresh forces the reload also:
