Inhofe (Mr Global Warming is a Myth) is holding a Global Warming Summit
Behind closed doors.

Invited attendees: GE, BP, Amoco and the Union of Concerned Scientists (think tank funded by big oil).

We all know what they are cooking up here in their super secret meeting. It is going to be a nasty brew.

But someone is clueless.

Lieberman:

"Many thought we would never see Senator Inhofe participate in, much less convene, a discussion of technologies for reducing global warming pollution. Clearly, something has changed. Longstanding opponents of reducing global warming pollution are finally getting the message that the American public understands the stakes and will no longer tolerate inaction in the face of the ever-growing evidence that the climate is changing.

5. You might want to double-check your info on the UCS.
here's their stand on Global Warming:
http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science/Fingerprints.html

Human Causes, Human Solutions

The identification of humans as the main driver of global warming helps us understand how and why our climate is changing, and it clearly defines the problem as one that is within our power to address.

They have been extremely critical of Bush:

And they have been very vocal about the need for and benefits of alternative renewable energy sources:

8. You are right UCS is the legitimate one.
There are so many bogus scientist groups funded by big oil that I just assumed UCS was one of them.

14. Sorry, I just assumed when a den of thieves meet behind closed doors
they don't invite the good guys to join them. Now that I've been corrected, it is a bit worrisome thinking about what kind of pressure those evildoers are going to put on the real scientists. Hope they make it out with all their body parts intact.

16. UCS? I know some of those guys.
They have been absolutely top knotch since they were
founded 30 years ago.
The smartest guys, with the best information. One of the
truly effective and worthwhile advocacy groups.
In a fair fight, they will cut Inhofe's yes-men/oil minions to
shards.

18. I can understand that assumption.
UCS is very sharp, and they have a large section of their website talking about how politics have screwed up science. But, they are scientists. They are not foxes and wolves like they will be meeting with. Makes one wonder what the foxes and wolves are up to.

9. Lieberman should consult his former running mate.........
...before he starts shooting his mouth off like that!

And a panel on global warming with only people involved in big oil is not going to accomplish anything!!! The only thing they will accomplish is talking about how they can sell global warming issues and line their pockets with even more cash at the same time!

Or they might talk about how they can jack up oil prices yet again!! Yeah, right! Like that's going to accomplish a lot..........NOT!

I hate Inhofe!! He's just another right wing nut job!!

15. The Union of Concerned Scientists is not funded by Big Oil....
...more like concerned about Big Oil and its effects on the planet and climate change. My Father-in-law is a founding member and I have belonged to them for a decade....

Your characterization of them was very inaccurate...

Amazing is the fact that they are meeting with Inhofe...he is public enemy #1 in the eyes of those concerned with Global Climate Change. Then again, maybe they want to see if they can bring him away from the dark side and see the light.
