I just got here, I didn't donate and now I doubt I will. It seems kind of sketchy starting ads after a pledge drive. How many people would have donated knowing these ads were coming?

Neo-con talking points all over the threads, loyalty oaths demanded in the pitt/leopold threads, neo-con banner ads, WTF?

I feel sorry for whoever owns this site, the downward spiral has begun.

I've been to several boards using free hosting with the same number of ads, what are the actual expenses of this site that the owners would insult their readers like this.

Kos ran an ad last year for NBC beach volleyball and the flame war that resulted from the appearance of scantly clad women lost kos many valuable contributers. That was a single ad.

So far I've seen three neo-con push poll ads and several straight up bizarre ones that make me wonder how much this affront is actually netting the site owners.

The Admins dropped GoogleAds some time before because they the search parameters tossed up crude and inappropriate ads.

GoogleAds approached DU and said that they could do a far better job of tailoring ad content now.

This is all "beta"...the admins are testing Google's claims that their GoogleAds are more appropriate now.

We shall all see. There's still a lot of back and forth going on right now because the Admins are telling Google things are not so good.

Keep checking the home page for the updates...that's where you can track what, why, and if.

DU admins should have set up test site before going live though.

I hope for everyone's sake it sorts out.
