Dear Mr. Bush:
Your show of contrition last night was just that. A show. Even If you were sincere, I’m afraid it is too little, too late.
Remember us, Mr. Bush? The “focus group” who opposed the war for the very reasons that are so obvious now to the rest of the world? Had you listened to anyone who knew anything at all about what we would be facing in Iraq, you would not have to pretend to be contrite.
Your legacy would have simply been a simple minded, ineffectual president who ranked very low along with several others. As it stands now, you are the worst president we have ever had. I hope you are proud of that. You have earned it.
You have also earned the loss of congress and the presidency for your party. I sincerely hope we are able to resuscitate this country from the unitary executive scourge you have thrust upon us. If there is any hope for this country, it lies in justice. You will face accountability for your actions when the country is brought back to us, the people.
Your open admission about your "Christianity" is exactly what the Bible says to avoid. Nothing you have done emulates the humility and humanity of Jesus. You seem to do the precise opposite of what is required of a follower of Christ. For this, you have even lost your beloved base. You have earned it.
The cold civil war you have manipulated with your hateful rhetoric is something that I hope we can recover from. You have done this to us. You had probably the most historic moment of any president to bring us together for common cause. Instead, you squandered the good will of not only us, but the world. I can’t even begin to put into words the contempt I have for you for that.
You are, and will always be, a war criminal. Wear it proudly. You have earned it.
