"I'm Not Ready To Make Nice": Dixie Chicks. Reba, eat this!
I love it! On Good Morning America for the masses to hear and see. Yeah, they're in the dregs because of their political stance. :eyes:

3. She made a snotty-assed comment the other night...
on American Idol about them. Couldn't remember the exact quote so, I went and found it:

"I don't know why I was so nervous about hosting this show this year. If the Dixie Chicks can sing with their foot in their mouths, surely I can host this sucker."

Classy, eh?

At the Academy of Country Music awards on Tuesday night, the host, Reba McEntire, made an unfunny joke. "If the Dixie Chicks can sing with their foot in their mouths, surely I can host this sucker," she said. The setup was pretty awkward. And when you stopped to think about it, the punch line really wasn't one. But none of that mattered. The line earned one of the night's most enthusiastic ovations.

show the other night. paraphrased, "If the Dixie Chicks can sing with their foot in their mouth..." and I don't remember the rest of the wench's snark. Reba SUCKS and the country music industry and their ididotic supporters SUCK TOO. JMCPO.

18. It has indeed passed. Her last CD was a hits compilation.
Did not sell well at all, certainly not for a hits album by someone with tens of millions of albums sold.

17. So email the network Reba's show comes on
And inform them that you will be writing to all advertisers that appear during her show, saying that you will refuse to purchase anything from them, due to Reba's un-American comments about the Dixie Chicks. Do this with anything she is affiliated with, and you might even promise to publish a list on the web for the masses to see exactly who supports un-American comments and hate rhetoric.

The problem is, she's on a non-channel many never go to, so it likely wouldn't matter.
But I love the idea of shifting the blame and outrage!:toast:

25. But that channel still sells advertisement slots
And whoever buys those ad slots, could be labeled and listed as un-American and hate rhetoric supporters and financiers. As the extreme right has shown, several angry calls, letters, & emails to withdraw any and all support and purchases can have an effect. Even more devastating to them, if they think a list is going to be published to help the masses with their purchasing power. And, it does not end with her show either, since she is still receiving money from her record label and anything else she is tied to.

The extreme right does it to get their way, with small organized groups, so dump it back in their laps the same way.

19. Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
Before you go stomping on Reba's CDs, consider the fact this was a country music awards program. Hosts/Hostesses DON'T WRITE THEIR INTROs, MONOLOGUES, "extemporaneous comments", etc. This is done by writers. Now, although I will concede the hosts/hostesses have the DISCRETION to refuse to say their lines as written, there is such pressure on being "politically correct", i.e., going with the * program, that I honestly don't believe ANY host could get away with deferring the anti-DC line. If it had been Willy Nelson, he would've just refused to host the show.

Maybe the only things I can fault Reba about are that if she didn't agree with the line, she still kept her hosting gigue and said the line anyway.

23. I don't care.
She does have control over her vocal chords and she herself said
that SHE removed other Dixie Chick "jokes" from her speech.

Does that philosophy apply to bush too? He has speech writers.
I guess they told him to say the things he's said. :sarcasm:

Edited on Fri May-26-06 09:36 AM by Sugarcoated
Recently he said something to the effect of, 'they didn't deserve to have their career's taken away just because of their political views'. I don't know if he spoke any support during the dust up several years ago. Gill is a somewhat legit country singer and, coming from that genre what he said can be considered pretty strong support. But they need to speak out stronger and louder.

29. Like they have lost anything other than a few redneck fans?
They are still the most successful female music group in history. They have sold more records than Reba (and sing a lot better than her too, IMO).

This is just the silliest thing. Boycotting their CDs only hurts the record company, since the artist makes only a few cents off of each sale. Their tour in 2003 may have been boycotted by some ignorant redneck country fans, but it was sold out so they wouldn't have been able to get tickets anyway.

These people are so damn stupid it is almost comical.

34. Gill seems to be a good guy
He defended them when they were being booed at the 2003 CMA's. Reba also made some snarky remarks about them at that show too. It was shortly after they had made their Bush comment.

31. Mainstream Nashville is one butt-ugly mindset
and it's already trying to crucify the Chicks all over again. Read a review from the Nashville Scene that made me laugh so hard: some pimply-faced puke bemoaning the fact that they aren't all sparkly and cheery on this album, like ALL of the best country people ALWAYS are!

Sorry, Nashville, but true country music was always about what's REAL, and the Chicks don't give a damn if your pansy asses can't deal with REALITY.

Reba is the WORST singer on the planet, next to that Sara Evans pinup thing. She hasn't got an original thought in her vacuous little head, and she's happy to live high on the hawg while millions suffer.

The Chicks will appeal to the 70%. Reba and her ilk will see sales decline, as only the Backwash want to see her mean, hate-filled little face.
