Police investigating "possible shots" heard in PARKING GARAGE of Rayburn
building...

Can anyone say "backfire"? Why can't the media just say that this whole thing COULD be a car backfire?

4. Why do they have a shooting range..
(and therefore lots of shooters with guns) in the Capital complex? Seems just a bit dangerous to me.

8. Capitol Police Range
The USCP use the range to qualify. At least they did when they had the old .38's now that they carry heavier arms, I don't know if the range gets that much use.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Capitol Police said Friday they were investigating reports of shots fired in the garage of the Rayburn Office Building, where members of the House have their offices.

The entire Capitol complex has been locked down, CNN's Dana Bash reported.

Tunnels connect all of the buildings in the complex.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra, R-Michigan, was conducting a House Intelligence Committee hearing at the time, according to an Associated Press report. Hoekstra interrupted a witness to tell those at the hearing to remain in the room and said doors must be closed.

"It's a little unsettling to get a Blackberry message put in front of you that says there's gunfire in the building," he told AP.

10. Daran Kagan was interviewing some "firearms expert"...
who claimed the sound was unmistakeably gunfire, not a backfiire. I don't know the man personally, so, so much for his creds, eh?:silly:
