Regarding the Ads...

I was wondering if there is any mechanism by which users could expicitly vote AGAINST an ad (that would be a bit like a negative click, so to speak) or ad type, so that Google can fine-tune what they send over by taking into account explicit negative feedback...

6. Excuse me, but...

What is so upsetting about the ads? Dozens of threads have gone up, tantrums are being thrown, members are threatening in disgust. What is the big deal? So a line for some Repug favored shows up. You don't have to click on it. It is not like that link to an ad is going send out a mind ray and manipulate us into voting Republican.

It helps make this place more viable for Skinner and to me that is a good thing. Seeing an ad for Ann Coulter's shitty books is not going to make bend over my wastebasket and hurl anymore than a "W" sticker is going to make me run off the road in outrage.
