1. in an emergency...
a call to a parent to let them know you're OK is not inappropriate.

5. I'm not saying it's innapropriate, just wussy to say it on teevee.
Mr Steinbaum sounded like the kind of guy who runs off the field, crying to Mumsie.

2. That's the intern talking .....
There are no staffers around. It's Friday. Everyone's gone for the holiday weekend.

So, yeah, they call home. They're hardly out of their teens, some of them. Some are still teens.

6. I think it's a hoax by the cellphone companies.
Can you Imagine all those High-schoolers at risk of not being able to call Mommy and tell her they just went wee wee all by themselves?

Fuck, when I was that age, I was being shot at (and occasionally, hit).

9. If it was my kid,
and that came over the news, you bet I'd want to hear from them.

You're cranky. Go eat breakfast.

Now.

8. I'm 52 and if my mom heard on the news that my workplace was
being searched because of gunshots she'd be going nuts until I called. Two weeks ago I was out until midnight on Friday night (in fact I was out with fellow DUers) and both mom and my sister-in-law were in an uproar because "she's never out that late". (I heard that from my niece who thought it was all so funny.)

You're never too old to let your mom know you're okay.

12. This is such a horrible tragedy. We should all look at the situation as
something for us to poop on!

"Oh! It's Armageddon for D.C.!!"
