Made me cry, too.

God, where did we get so far off the track?

on edit: I wish I could recommend this 50 times.

5. I just kicked it up to the Greatest Page
Mr. Rogers was like a Grandpa to me when I was little.

I miss him and his civility greatly.

I grew up with Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and loved him. If only there were more programming and people like him today, our world would be a much better place.

10. He was so impressive, talking off the cuff--and from heart--without a...
...prepared speech. Wow...I can think of at least one "world leader" who can't manage that. :D

11. I saw this a few days ago, and it's still on my mind.
If someone like Fred Rogers were to say this today, an hour later, Limbaugh would be on the air condemning and insulting him, and Michael Savage would be calling him a fag, wishing him to get AIDS and die.

It's impossible to overestimate how far we've sunk in this country.

Here's to Fred Rogers, one of the best human beings ever. You're sorely missed, Fred.

12. I miss him...
He cared so deeply for children and treated them with respect. I miss Daniel Striped Tiger and Lady Elaine Fairchild! :) I'm laughing through my tears typing this... I guess I'm an old sap...

And you can see that Fred was really nervous by how he was wringing his hands, but he was so sincere.

I grew up in Pgh and the thing that everyone who met Fred Rogers said was that he was Mr. Rogers. It was not an act. He was a very kind and gentle man who cared deeply about other people, especially kids.

14. Like a lot of people, I used to make fun of Mr. Rogers after I'd
outgrown his program.

I knew I was truly a mature adult when I was able to look back at the show and its creator and love them for how wonderful they truly were. I don't mind telling you I cried when Mr. Rogers died.

17. Our children"s museum has a permanent exhibit
that recreates the Mr. Roger's set and has a lot of memorabilia from the show. And of course it's the kids' favorite part, and I have to fight not to cry every time we go.

Yes, I made fun of him when I was a certain age, then grew up and really really really appreciated all that he did. A genunine nice gentle caring man.

16. I loved Mr. Rogers. I would sit with my son and watch it. I loved that
he always tried to make everyone feel valuable...no matter who or what they were. His neighborhood was a safe place for everyone.

"I don't like Mr. Rogers."

I asked why. She said:

"He always calls me 'Nayver'."
