SAN DIEGO -- A Marine Corps general said Wednesday Marines based at Camp Pendleton will face war crime charges for the deaths of Iraqi civilians.
Marine Corps General Michael Hagee would not say which Marines are being accused of the crime or what charges they will face. The Marines are known to be from the Kilo Company, Third Battalion, 1st Marines, based at Camp Pendleton, NBC 7/39 reported.
The alleged incident happened near Haditha, Iraq. An investigation is expected to show 24 civilians were killed. At least seven were women and three were children.

Military investigations have found that Marines from Camp Pendleton killed unarmed Iraqi civilians in Haditha, including women and children, and tried to cover up the slayings.
Officials who have seen the findings of the investigations said that they expect the filing of criminal charges, including some murder counts, which would make the Nov. 19 incident the most serious case of alleged U.S. war crimes in Iraq.
An administrative inquiry found that several Marines fatally shot as many as 24 Iraqis and that other Marines either failed to stop them or filed misleading or blatantly false reports.
