Right Wingers and their Moral Relativism
All the time we hear about RW'ers talking about how we are morally relativistic.

Well, RW'ers...

Who gives Iraq WMD one day and then invades them in the future?

Bush talked of rape rooms and torture during Saddam's reign, but John Yoo, who worked in the Bush Administration, advocated "crushing the testicles" of the children of detainees.

That seems kind of immoral to me.

2. Remember, according to Republicans, "only Republicans can.....
do no wrong". A Democrat having an affair is BAD, but a Republican doing the same thing is called a "youthful indiscretion".

"honor and integrity"...shown to be BS

4. they know they are immoral.
they are simply convinced they are right.

cult of america.

cult of corporatism.

so on and so forth.

the fly in the ointment maybe the religous right -- at some point.

but that's what massive spying is for -- not at all unlike the soviets.

one has to read up on leo strauss -- there are people who like to laugh at conspiracy theorists -- but it doesn't take smoky back rooms to work out a common agenda.

and i would certainly say that pnac is a pretty cynical document that points pretty conclusively that there are no small number of people pulling on the rope in the same direction.

5. One partial explanation is that they don't see
middle eastern people as human. Or at least not human in the same sense that he sees Americans as people. This is traditional - many societies have codes that demand certain behaivor towards your fellow man; but then carve out large exceptions for those creatures who have two arms and two legs but don't happen to be from your tribe.

As societies progress, the circle of people that count as people grows and grows.

It's possible that in Bush's mind only he himself really counts as a person, given some of his actions.

6. Oh, but they're Christians so they're excused
I actually had some rw moonbat try to pass off that excuse in one of those stupid emails that was sent around, the one that referred to radical Muslims protesting the Mohammed cartoons as "barbarians." Silly me, trying to educate folks, hit "reply all" & pointed out that we have fundies here who are guilty of the same things (Robertson calling for the assassination of Chavez & Falwell saying we should blow all the Muslims away "in the name of the Lord.") Instead of recognizing the beam in their eye (referring to Jesus telling us not to judge others for the speck in their eye), I got this clap-trap back. Paraphrasing: They're Christians & as Christians we'll all be judged for our actions by God when we die, so we can't judge what they said as good or bad.

The fundies who are really off the deep end will never acknowledge that they are hypocrites.
