Justice Dept. issues statement denying investigation of Hastert.
WASHINGTON, May 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- On May 24, Justice Department officials issued a statement denying that the Department was conducting an investigation of House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and his involvement in June 2003 in a gambling casino license case at the Interior Department.

The Justice Department denial followed reports by ABC News that Hastert was "in the mix" of the Department's investigation of the Jack Abramoff scandals, in connection with Hastert's involvement in the gambling casino license case.

Democracy 21 has no information about whether such a Justice Department investigation is being conducted of Hastert or of other members of Congress who intervened in the gambling casino licensing case at the Interior Department.

What the organization says it does know is that the congressional ethics committees and the Justice Department clearly should be investigating this matter.

1. The Turkish connection?
Thought Big Denny was under some suspicion re: Turkish
money and connection to purchased influence in Congress...
stopping the motion to recognize the Armenian atrocity?
Another typical republican massive moral "lapse."
