A public apology to a grumpy old clown
I got pissed off in another thread yesterday and wound up calling him an Asshole because I took something personally, when further (and much calmer, rationale) discussion led us to the realization that we were still both on the same side of the issue, just approached it from a couple of different (head on collidingly different) directions.

And unlike some "Bring 'em on" comments made by Our Dear Leader, I'm not even going to try to avoid the personal responsibility of claiming to have been misunderstood or misinterpreted (misunderestimated?)

Amazing how a thread that was started over a legitimate concern (but with less than diplomatic wording) could blow up so quickly.

1. It happens...but takes a real man/woman to admit overreacting.

3. Name calling and ridicule
have no place in an intelligent argument but we are only human and we get upset. It happens and I give you much credit for the apology... :applause:

5. And Mr. BR_Parkway, sir, you exceed the label of gentleman and scholar
I am, indeed touched by your public apology. And I sincerely thank you for showing me how a real man acts when he's done something he thinks wrong. But even more, I am humbled and duly chastened by it.

The thread in question had the best of intents, but went horribly awry, through no one's fault but mine.

I know I started with no intent to insult, much less chastise. But indeed that's what happened. I'd like to post this link to my journal which takes a more rational approach to the same issue. Perhaps it will at least show that I'm not always - as I have rightly been called in this instance - an Asshole.

Thank you again. Really.

12. I'm not allowed there, unless I promise to wash **and** dry .....
The rest of my weekend will be in the doghouse. Sparkly wasn't one bit happy with me.

9. Kudos to you both!
What a great slice of DU life turned wonderfully nice!

I've had a few deteriorating verbal scuffles here that resulted in apologetic PMs back and forth, but this public deal is a nice touch.

10. Yeah right - Bush lover!
Your hero "apologizes," and so you feel that to be like him, you should do the same. Well, it's not going to wash pally.

Pig pile on BR_Parkway!

Okay, that's juvenile. Instead, a round of drinks, BR_Parkway's buying! (Might as well profit from a little on-line remorse, is my feeling.)

14. I'm very proud of both of you!
Sh1t happens, but there's hope when both sides are able to swallow their pride and see that "hey, we agree!".

Recommended, because I wish I could see more of this on DU.

After the last two weeks, I can understand why this thread was considered for the greatest page. I hope you both serve as an example to lesser minds.
