ATTN VETS: Identity theft info
A couple of resources available for the identity theft situation:

http://www.firstgov.gov/

Or, call a number the VA has set up just for this situation. Its supposed to have actual humans answering the phone: 1-800-FED-INFO (333-4636). 0800-2100 MON-SAT East Time.

Good Luck teammates. Lets not let Congress put us on the backburner.

1. "How do I know if information about me was stolen?"
"At this point there is no evidence that any missing data has been used illegally. However, the Department of Veterans Affairs is asking all veterans to be extra vigilant and to carefully monitor bank statements, credit card statements and any statements relating to recent financial transactions. If you notice unusual or suspicious activity, you should report it immediately to the financial institution involved and contact the Federal Trade Commission for further guidance."

In other words, the VA doesn't know whether my information was stolen, and neither can I, until it is too late. Furthermore, they are placing the onus on me.

Thank, VA, for nothing.
