The ONLY reason phelps and his clan are as nasty as they are now is because the media collectively agreed to ignore them.And for awhile it worked!! Now they start protesting soldiers they have picked up their media coverage again. The media fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

protesting about him saying that soldiers died in Iraq, but on the whole God Hates Fags issue, they should be on his side of the street holding up exactly the same signs - if you ever go over to their hate filled site, you'll find an entire section devoted to the Homosexual Agenda:

Phelps is a sick asshole. My brother is a soldier. If he died in the line of duty and these bastards protested his funeral I would go ballistic.

I wish I could be there to counter protest with them. Will any DUers be there? I suggest singing loudly to drown out the hate speech and carry XXXL signs to block the view of the "God likes dead soldiers" signs.

The families deserve to mourn in peace. To disrespect the families who have lost SO much...there is no honor in kicking someone when they're already down. I know Phelps has the right to protest, but a counter protest is highly neccessary and I'm glad the freepers in the area are doing it.

I doubt that the Freepers are angry at Phelps because he is anti-gay, but other things that Phelps has done are pretty sick, too. His group picketed the funerals of those dead miners, for one thing. I hope that the only survivor of the mine disaster will be in good enough shape one day to kick Phelps' ass, because he had to watch the other miners die, one by one. And picketing dead soldiers' funerals? Sorry Phelps, but the real criminals are the people who sent them to Iraq! Go give them hell instead. Stupid fundie idiot.

I might get banned for posting this, but people should check out http://www.blackfive.net/ and search for articles and comments on Phelps. He is positively hated there and Blackfive is absolutely right-wing to the core. Props to Uncle Jimbo, former SF, for supporting gays in the military and lifting the absurdity that is our military gay "policy" of don't ask don't tell.
