Olberman's Openers Tonight Anyone?
My guess on the number one spot will be an almost full replay of Arlen Specter's speech this afternoon giving his reason for voting against Hayden. It sounded like a bill of Impeachment for Bush if not an invitation by example for Republican's to jump ship.

I don't know of anything else today that was so shocking but went so unnoticed. Anyone got any other guesses?

2. Late this morning
Around a quarter of eleven Arlen Specter was on C-Span2 giving a little speech about why he, as Judicial Committee Chairman, voted Nay to the Hayden nomination.

He said it was a protest vote even though he thought Hayden was just fine and had no problems with the ancillary issues surrounding him. Then he laid out the litany of shit about the NSA mess including what sounded to me as statements of outright illegality from the Whitehouse. I was knocked off my feet by it but apparently no one saw it.

3. had it on at work.......
His response seemed almost cathartic in nature. If you've watched him during the past few weeks this was predictable, especially on this specific topic. I don't know if it will lead to anything in terms of some real congressional action, that will be poll driven with these guys, but I do think it marks the beginning of some real scrutiny of the possible illegalities here.

4. OMG, it sounds like Arlen Specter could be the splinter that starts.......
.....the flood away from the neocons/fundies. Don't get me wrong I'm not a big Arlen Specter fan but the one thing he always goes back to is individual freedoms. He is admittedly very neocon/fundie in his views but he's also Very Much for the Constitution. :patriot:

Speaking of speeches, I caught just part of Senator Byrd's speech. OMG, he about had me in tears with his tribute to his wife. :applause:
