Got a car ribbon?
If you're not pleased with the selection with magnetic ribbons at your location, a Boston, MA firm has stepped into the breech. From their "about" page:

What is Support Our Ribbons?

Support Our Ribbons is organized by Visor Enterprises, LLC, SupportOurRibbons.com and includes a storefront, where users can buy various magnets, custom magnet maker where users can customize ribbons and other magnet shapes, and more.

What is the Story Of The Ribbons?

On a recent trip from Massachusetts to Ohio, Visor Enterprises founders noticed numerous small magnetic ribbons clinging to the rear ends of cars, trucks and SUVs. Telling us that "Freedom Isn't Free," to "Support Our Troops," and even to "Viva Mexico," whatever that means, these ribbons reminded us that yes, we live in America, and yes, some people like Mexico too. Actually, they reminded us that the car bumper is the ultimate forum for political discourse, and we had a responsibility to join the debate.

We immediately started asking the tough questions. Where do these ribbons come from? Do they deserve to be there? How much do people pay for them? And, most importantly, is anyone making fun of them? The answers to these questions are a resounding "Ribbon Factories," "Sure," "About $2.99," and "No." So we decided to step up and do what we could for our country: bring our nation together through jokes. (And by "bring together," we mean "point out the differences in").

On March 2nd, 2005, Visor Enterprises launched its salvo in the War For Our Bumpers: Support Our Ribbons. Ribbons support many causes. Isn't it time we supported them? Available today, many beautifully designed ribbons can be found online at this web site.

What is Visor Enterprises?

Visor Enterprises, LLC is the company which owns and runs Support Our Ribbons. Visor's goal is to support projects that are both fun and potentially profitable. Visor Enterprises was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.

What Does Visor Enterprises Support?

Besides supporting the drivers and passengers on America's highways and byways, we make periodic donations to Operation Uplink, a program that provides free pre-paid phone cards to active-duty military personnel and hospitalized veterans. We'd also like to support a little league team, although we'd require them to submit to random testing for steroids.

At supportourribbons.com there's a section on the right side of the page called "Popular Tags This Week." Some of the more interesting ribbons with the word "support" include:

  • Support the Empire (pg. 1)
  • Support a moe.ron (pg. 4)
  • Support The Troops - THINK Before You Vote (pg.6)
  • Support Wiretapping! (pg.6)
  • Support Blind Patriotism (pg. 6)
  • I Support Fascism (pg. 12)

1. I have two ribbons and they are not yellow.
One reads: "Bring Them Home" and the other: "Out of Iraq."

3. I also have a ribbon...
Edited on Sun May-28-06 08:21 AM by catabryna
blue one that says "Bring home our troops." Actually, there's one on my car and the other (in case the first one got stolen) is on my refrigerator. I initially purchased a bunch of them and left them in an envelope in my car. Over the past couple of years, I've given all of them away to people who said they liked it.

Edited to add: It was heartening that I gave them all away while still living in Texas.
