I think Sensenbrenner needs to go get his fuckin' shinebox...
Edited on Sun May-28-06 11:05 AM by Wetzelbill
I was rolling my eyes when I saw that MTP had two Republicans talking about immigration, but Chuck Hegel tore Jim Sensenbrenner up pretty good. He made him look absolutely stupid, at least three times. Which, granted, isn't all that tough, but it was ugly. Hegel is a smart guy and he's not a completely crazy windbag like Sensenbrenner and half the GOP is. You have to take this stuff with a grain of salt, but it was interesting to watch. Basically, the House Republicans really don't want to do anything on the issue. All they say is "secure the border, no amnesty." They have no viable solution at all. It's an odd topic anyway, complex. However, the House Republicans have gotten so used to slogans, they have no concept of how to deal with an overarching issue with so many interrelated smaller ones within it. It's infuriating to listen to a powerful guy like Sensenbrenner sound so dumb about something. He didn't say one thing that Hegel didn't thoroughly refute. Pretty interesting stuff. :)

3. Amazing
how the immigration issue went slumbering for five years+ in a pile of domestic needs, until the bastards (Republicans, that is) started to feel the election jitters. These people are not fit to govern us.

4. Did you notice Senselessbrenner
completely backpedaled when the commentator asked him.
( after quoting the percentages of undocumented workers in many industries)

" What happens when these workers are sent back to their home countries?"

Senseless, " Oh!- I wasn't saying they should be sent back- there should be a path
for them to gain citizenship."

Oh, really?!?
That's not what he said previously!

What a jerk!
