Do you ever get angry at the Mainstream News Media (M$M)?
Edited on Sun May-28-06 12:15 PM by kentuck
For example, when they go on and on day after day about the Democrat caught up in a bribery scandal but for months and years have virtually ignored Tom Delay, Abramoff, Bob Ney, and all their connected bribes? And you know it is all intentional by them? Do you get angry that they support the GOP strategy of making all the corruption "bi-partisan" when they know that the Republicans are involved in perhaps the most corrupt Administration in the history of this country. There have been poker and prostitute parties as defense contracts have been handed out to limosine services to haul around corrupt Republican Congressmen. There are billions and billions of dollars missing in Iraq and nobody knows where it went? Billions!! There has been one lie after another and spying on tens of millions of Americans all in the name of "protecting" them. Yet the media sits on their ass the whole time - until there is a Democratic Congressman caught in a alleged bribery case. Then, magically, the M$M awakens. They are on guard and exercising their 1st Amendment right to give you the information you need. Does that ever make you angry?

1. A better question would be, when am I *not* angry at them.
And the answer would be, never.

4. Better question is...."Do you ever NOT get pissed at the MNM?"
I find my viewing of TV news (especially cable news) keeps getting less and less. That's because it just seems like they've made news just anotehr "fast-food" commodity.

I don;t think they're biased. Just shallow, insulated and totally lacking in any character. It's all cardboard cutouts discussing plastic subjects. Politics is just another pre-fab burger to throw in the mix.

After being too long pissed about this, I'm increasingly taking Rhett Butler's attitude. "Frankly my dear, I just don't give a damn about you anymore."

7. They're biased towards stupidity, the elite status quo and money
They have the bias of a bunch of people who are out-of-touch and woirking within corporate system that has drained out all of whatever life and integirty they may have had previously.

It's all about ratings, advertising and cross promotion with their otehr interests.

I don't think they actually "manipulate" the news to achieve specific political purposes....They just share the perspective of a narrow elite, and they just don't give a shit about actual public service and integity anymore.

8. Look at how they are jumping on the Jefferson story, right now when the
timing is right for them. Deflect from Republican corruption; a Democrat is involved as well. They knew about this before Katrina, and when Hastert himself is potentially involved in the Abramoff scandal, the M$M pulls this out of their sleeve and discusses it? That's not manipulation? And the NYT's sitting on NSA, etc. etc.

18. It's more complicated than that
I hate to be defending the MSM, but I thiuk ypou ascribe too much of a coordinated pattern driven by political agendas than likely exists.

If Jefferson's a crook (or is an alleged one) that certainly merits coverage, as do GOP crooks. The MSM hasn't been sweeping the Abromoff scandals under the carpet.

The NYT was slow on the trigger, but they did expose the NSA wiretapping. Had they not, the public would not be aware of it today.

The problem IMO is not that they are trying to shape the nes according to some hidden agenda. It's that they have become commercial enterprises as opposed to the public service obligation of commercial enterprises, like they used to be). So they go with what's easy, cheap and flashy and will draw in eyeballs to their advertising....And they hire shallow nitwits who care only aboput how their hair looks and how their voice sounds....That's bad enough.

5. I'm mad as hell at the Corporate Media Whores.
You might think I'm being harsh, but the media is nothing more than mouth pieces for their Corporate best interests. Once in awhile they do some honest reporting like they did for a few days during Katrina but soon it was back to B.S. as usual.

:grr:

9. I find it easier to ignore them and get the news from abroad.
The BBC, for instance, has adults that read the news and adults that discuss it without the necessity of teeth-whitener, botox and pleasing the sellers of refrigerators and beer.

13. Angry enough to turn them off, tune them out, call them irrelevant
and say "LIAR" in a stage voice whenever I'm subjected to any of it on a television in a store. I will not voluntarily deliver a warm body to their advertisers. I am done.

I tuned out on 11/3/04.

There was a survey I glanced at last week that said only 12% find them trustworthy.

Those must be the newsmen, themselves.

now, I'm just so glad I have a DISH! I can't STAND to give THEM one more TV hooked up for them to boost their ratings! I just turn to something else!

I've been a junky for so long, it amazes me that I actually do it! But I do. I get what I need right here for the most part, but check out other sites too!

SCREW MSM!!
