If your marriage becomes worth less to you due to gay marriage
then file for divorce-your marriage wasn't worth JACKSHIT to begin with. Period.

Say this to every religious yahoo who spouts on about the notion that gay marriage would make marriage in some way "less special" for non-gays.

Seriously if the sanctity of your marriage is based on the acts of others which do not in any way affect you then you need some serious fucking help. As a matter of fact just do yourself a favor, stay single and whore yourself out at those findsexnow.com types like all the other moral republicans do.

1. LOL-- I'm divorced-- I should tell people that the ex and I divorced...
...because gays wanted to marry just to watch their heads explode. I mean, even someone who opposes gay marriage would have to think that anyone who ever ACTED on those concerns was nuts!

3. That's funny you know the last religious whacko that I talked to
In addition to banning gay marriage also believed that divorce should be illegal.

5 minutes later he told me he was divorced.

How do these people remember to breathe and walk straight? seriously I wish I could be that stupid I wouldn't have a care in the world and no reason to act responsibly.

7. Better than banning divorce...
1. Require all couples seeking to marry to sign an affidavit saying that they have no impediments to natural procreation, ie no vastectomy, tubal ligation, hystorectomy, etc. Failure to sign means you can not get a marriage license; lying on the affidavit is a class A misdomeanor.

2. Require all couples who do get married to procreate within three years of the marriage. Failure to procreate -- and adoption doesn't count -- leads to an automatic revocation of the marriage license and mandatory repayment of any marriage benefits (insurance, social service benefits, etc) obtained during the previous three years.

After all, the one and only purpose of marriage is procreation. Right?

16. Post Menopausal Women
Automatic no Marriage License. Actually, they could declare all marriages of these women null and void; cannot procreate anymore.

22. An initiative is in the planning stages to do just this
That is one of the reasons I'm so antsy about the Washington State Supreme Court issuing its ruling on Anderson v King County, the case demanding equal marriage. If the Court agrees with the opponents of equal marriage -- and the only argument they made was that marriage exists for procreation -- an initiative to do just what I outlined will be proposed to the People of Washington. The "short title" will be something along the lines of: Shall the recent Court ruling that marriage exists for the purpose of procreation be given the force of law? Yes or No."

While I hope we won't need to go that far, it would be fun watching the fundyies' heads spin on this.

14. These are the same people who give their teenage daughters abortions when
they get pregnant, but then try to make abortion illegal too.
If they ever actually looked at their own belief system, it would all fall apart.

17. well, divorce is a bigger threat to marriage than gays ever will be
also adultery, domestic abuse, alcohol, drugs, money or lack of it, disrespect, and those infamous undershirts commonly known as "wife beaters".

I have zero tolerance for those who talk about family values but don't value families. Gays ought to have families too.

8. I actually had someone give me that "less special" line.
I told him he might be gay. After all, if his marriage means less to him because gay people can marry, then there must be a reason. He must have been tempted somewhere down the line and is now worried about more temptation.

I honestly thought he was going to hit me, but he sure as Hell couldn't come up with a response. LOL!

9. Here in Arkansas you can apply for a "Covenant Marriage"

I think it's completely rediculous. I knew a very religious couple who were among the first in line to get one of these. I don't see the point in this. It's another one of the uber-religious ploys to make them feel like they take marriage more seriously than other people. My husband and I take our marriage very seriously and I hardly believe that it will be cheapened or devalued if gays are allowed to marry.

People just need to keep their noses out of other people's business and focus on coming to terms with their own insecurities.

12. I like your last sentence
A so-called "covenant marriage" doesn't carry any more water than a legal marriage.

Mrs. D and I were married in a converted elevator shaft in a (gasp) *government* building.

We'll celebrate twenty years of civil marriage in September. Our son graduates from high school next week.

I despise these people who would piss on someone else's union. They should look in the mirror.

21. I agree. But maybe if we had something like a civil union
with the option of religious marriage, it might solve the problem once and for all.

I seriesly hope that it's just the corporate bullhorn being put to the lips of whackos that is generating this stuff.

That's our real challenge, I think. Sort out the bull from the real when it comes to public opinion because we are bombarded every single minute with this fascist cR@p that no one -- or no one in sig numbers -- really believes.

Didja hear that, Special Agent? We don't effen believe the propaganda.
