Give a listen to Dixie Chicks says Neil Young
http://livingwithwar.blogspot.com/
'FREEDOM IS A TWO-WAY STREET'
"LIVING WITH WAR...........the most remarkable reaction to any of my recordings to date continues.............i just returned from OHIO, where so many folks came up to me and thanked me for making LIVING WITH WAR.........more people than have ever approached me in a day about any recording that i have released over the last 40 years.............many people just thank me for speaking for them.........others say they can't stop listening to LIVING WITH WAR............at my office in santa monica
ca, people have called from their cars just to thank us for releasing this record...........closing in on 1/4 million playbacks of LIVING WITH WAR streaming free on the net........to all of you supporting this project and to my management and my friends at radio and reprise records.....thank you for your support........ If you have not heard the dixie chicks latest recording, be sure to give it a listen............. it's coming out May 23rd and is another musical triumph for the chicks............ rock radio should support this project with all the power it has..............the chicks continue to speak out while others worry about consequences at country radio.........some country stations are not playing the dixie chicks because of listener controversy...........like president Bush says, "FREEDOM IS A TWO-WAY STREET".........maybe country radio should listen to the president and keep both lanes open........ny may 22/06

2. The Dixie Chicks' new CD sounds great!
Edited on Sun May-28-06 09:06 PM by klook
It's not an agit-prop project by any means, just a really good rockin' album. And this is coming from somebody who doesn't even normally like country music! Their songs are great, their performances are top-notch, their backing musicians are among the best in the business, the entire recording is very professionally done, the packaging is beautiful (and so are they), there are some fantastic guest artists on there with them, and most of all--it sounds damn good! Go get it right now, preferably from a locally owned business in your area.

The entire CD is good though.

9. I got both CD's Thursday and
love them both. Neil's CD could use a little more tweaking and sounds like they rushed it out and cut corners, but the message is loud and clear.

The Chick's CD is polished and also carries a consistent and important theme. Just don't make me pick a fav!!

14. Neil Young's style is a little rough; he's not as polished as
some would prefer him to be. I like that style but my husband and I have argued about him for 30 years over this very point. LOL I forced him to listen to the whole CD the day I bought it.

22. Cinnamon Girl - I married a drummer
I wanna live
with a cinnamon girl
I could be happy
the rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl.

A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,
chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.

Ten silver saxes,
a bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
and waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl.

A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,
chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.

Pa sent me money now
I'm gonna make it somehow
I need another chance
You see your baby loves to dance
Yeah...yeah...yeah.

8. I bought the Chicks album and really enjoy it
Edited on Sun May-28-06 10:04 PM by Mr_Spock
It is a very good album - this from a rock n roller who ranks on country music for the most part.

I also bought the Pink album at the same time - another great choice while you're at the record store.

I'm listening to Neil Young now - thanks for the link. It's so about time for some really good protest music.

19. That cover is wonderful! Oh, bless these dear souls! The peace sign!
I have wanted to start a thread to list the CW Radio stations that will not play their music, and have DU blast them with e-mail requests. I haven't gotten very far on the list, but I hope to do so soon. Limited time and a slow computer...

24. Oh, I think it's intentional. FLY. Maybe I'm fantasizing, but that's the
first thing that came to my mind, that they were subtly using Y for the peace sign. I just looked in the smilies table for a peace sign and found none! (I've used this table only a few times!) But I'm so surprised that DU has no 'classic' peace sign!

33. Don't know about their music, but their Stern interview last week
was absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. Great interview, lasting 1+ hrs of total entertainment. They talked about Clear Channel, BushCo, Media Consolodation, panties, the Iraq War, fellatio, record sales and Freedom of Speech. Great interview.

29. 'Country' radio has it's head way too far up it's corporate ass
to play the Chicks. Radio is not about music, it's about corporate profits. Period, music is only the pathway to money. Follow the money.
