Will "An Inconvenient Truth" open up at more theaters?
Right now it seems to be scheduled only in the smaller "art houses". If it starts to pull in money, will the big chain theaters pick it up?

2. I should clarify
Right now An Inconvenient Truth is bypassing or being bypassed by the megaplexes. Will they pick it up and expand distribution if this film looks like a moneymaker?

3. Only when...
the theaters can make a buck. Why take "X-Men 3" off of a screen when it is pulling in thousands of viewers to pull in a couple of hundred with a documentary?

5. Thanks for the info
As of now, the closest theater to here the film will be shown at is 50 miles away. It'd be nice to have it right here in town. Sigh. They showed Fahrenheit 911, maybe they can pick this up as well.

4. I'm wondering that too.
So far it hasn't opened in my state at all & when it does it will be pretty far from me. Driving a long ways to see a movie about fossil fuels destroying the planet just feels wrong to me!

6. I'm guessing
it will be sold to TV companies worldwide and then released on DVD. I doubt it will ever be in the big chain theaters who are controlled by only a few distribution companies. For comparison was Outfoxed ever on full release ?

It's almost the equivalent of a modern day Chitlin Circuit.:)

8. It's not about control...
..it is about money.

If Gore's documentary can make money for chain theaters, they will show it.

There is no conspiracy not to show Gore's documentary. Outside of very politically motivated people, I would bet that most Americans are not willing to shell out 9 bucks a ticket to see this. If I owned a theater, this would not be a movie I would want to show, unless I calculated there was a large enough niche audience out there which would allow me to make money by being the only theater in town that ran it.

If Gore's film packs in the smaller theaters over and over, I'd bet some of the bigger theaters will suddenly take a second look (assuming they haven't already).

12. I didn't say anything about control or conspiracy
and political movitation is a side issue.

The major distributors will only screen stuff which will bring in loads of bucks. It doesn't matter how many small audience cinemas are filled it won't influence the big boys - too much Hollywood stuff stacked up waiting for release. In the UK we're already saturated, quite rightly so, with umteen TV documentaries on the same subject.

7. It wouldn't be at my theater anyway. Small town and the owner is
a super duper wing nut. It really is being pushed by someone though. The reviews are out and they are glowing and they were all over the networks this morning.

10. I saw 'Sir, no Sir' at a small movie house and they say....
that big movies houses watch how the small ones do and if attendance is high enough they'll pick it up.

so.. go see the movie!

11. Al Gore
I was at the Town Hall discussion last Thursday. I think A good idea would be to combine a vid. of the discussion and the movie into a CD, and sell that.
