GOP Congress Funds World's Largest Embassy - But NOT Helmet Upgrades ! ! !
All we need to know about the priorities of the GOP Congress:

Over $1 billion for an embassy complex in Baghdad bigger than Vatican City, over 10 times larger than any previous embassy. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12319798/

Meanwhile, anti-ballistic helmet upgrades for American troops are developed, approved, but NOT FUNDED by the GOP Congress.

.....Despite findings at Walter Reid army Hospital that 59% of survivors have traumatic brain injury, 56% are moderate or severs, and 10% result in long term nursing home care.

Because of IED's, traumatic brain injuries are becoming the signature injury of the Iraq War.

These most commonly result from closed head injury (rather than penetrating brain injury) caused by the enormous concussive force of an IED.

Relatively inexpensive anti-ballistic liners have been proven to dramatically reduce this concussive force.

In the absence of federal funding, Dr. Bob Meaders, a veteran of Viet Nam and retired naval flight surgeon, has supllied over 6500 helmet upgrades free of charge to American troop. Private donations go 100% to helmet upgrades. Unlike most charaties, there are NO ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES. Operation Helmet, which began as an effort to supply helmet upgrades to Dr. Meaders grandson's Marine unit, is operated as a labor of love.

Chickenhowk talk is cheap!

Actions speak louder than words.

On this Memorial Day, DU'ers can help Dr. Bob Meaders do what the GOP Congress refuses to do, and reduce disabling head injuries in America's sons and daughters.

2. And Iraqis are convinced we plan to leave and not occupy Iraq?
They can see the construction of this permanent base, and know that we are planning to always be there. That in itself is enough to power support of an insurgency against the US there.

Anyone in the world with any sense at all knows we are there with plans to be there forever. period.

Giant U. S. Embassy Dismays Iraqis http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1306604

They're Staying in Iraq

by Kevin Zeese
The message is clear. Indeed, it's gigantic for all Iraqis, for the entire world to see. A 100 acre compound – ten times the size of the typical U.S. embassy, the size of 80 football fields, six times larger than the UN, the size of Vatican City. The US Embassy Compound, in the middle of Baghdad – the center for US domination of the Middle East and its resources.

But to the GOP empire builders, American troops are totally expendible!!
