62-38 for Alito?
Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 03:24 PM by earthside
I just heard Ed Schultz say that a straw poll of Senators showed a vote of 62-38 for Alito?

That's more Democrats than I expected for Alito.

Who do you think they are?

1. How in the hell can they count votes before they are placed?
Next I suppose they will have the count of who wins and looses in next Novembers election.

All Republicans (55) plus Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, Dianne Feinstein, Max Baucus, Evan Bayh, Mary Landrieu and Kent Conrad.

We'll see.

9. Not sure I buy it but
If it's true- or the Dems don't filibuster, they can kiss 2006 goodbye.

I can't think of many people who are going to want to work for them after that, or even vote for them.

People will vote for corruption before they vote for cowardice.

11. Don't worry about 2006...there will be strikes against Iran, and
that will make everyone feel safe and the GOP will win big...

And you just know that most Democrats will fall in line...the whole lot of them....Clark is the one out there right now preempting on the lack of real diplomacy and already predicting a surge of support for Bushco....

Democrats are comatose....

10. I think it potentially will be....
Baucus, Bayh, Kent Conrad, Mark Pryor, Lieberman, Ken Salazar, Bill and Ben Nelson and Tim Johnson. Wouldn't be surprised to see Byron Dorgan in there either.

12. The nation is really doomed. Bush has screwed it for generations.
Every Congressperson who votes FOR Alito should lose his or her job come election time. This man, Alito, is dishonest and disgusting. He's as much as telling us that he will lie when it suits him and he doesn't give a damn.

13. That is also enough votes for closure
that has been my fear all along, we dont have the votes for a filibuster. We will look stupid to try. The repugs want us to try and fail.
